Bakuto Yumekui is a young mystic who spends his time tending to his family shrine, which is neglected and in disrepair. He is approached one day to participate in the Desire Grand Prix, and wishes for prestige and longevity for his shrine and family name.

Equipped with the Desire Driver and the Tapir ID Core, Bakuto transforms into Kamen Rider Daze. Daze is not an experienced fighter, but uses more social methods to increase his score and stay in the game. His ID Core gives his speech a mild soporific property, lulling people to sleep if they listen too long.
