Description
You... are... not... alone........Inspired by the numerous fan theories I've heard about characters of various books, movies, and TV shows who are secretly Time Lords. I think the trickiest part of this picture was choosing my line up. My friends helped me come up with several ideas and then I had to narrow it down to the ones that best matched the theme. Some of the criteria I looked for included unusual forms of transportation, anything that's 'bigger on the inside', regeneration/multiple iterations, ect. Some of the secret Time Lords that didn't quite make it were Harry Potter, Batman, and Yoda.
Here we have (from left to right): Marry Poppins, Doc Brown (Back to the Future), James Bond, Willy Wonka, the Doctor, Mrs. Frizzle (the Magic School Bus), Gandalf (the Lord of the Rings), and Santa Claus.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who suspected Willy Wonka (original). I never even thought about Mary Poppins being one, but that seems kind of fitting. I just realized that Santa Claus might have been one tonight. lol Merry Christmas!
Ms. Frizzle seems too clever an option. I assume Gandalf is up there because he "regenerated" into Gandalf the White? I do not understand why you picked James Bond, but then again, I haven't seen a single Bond movie and my knowledge of Dr. Who is limited.
For some reason, I like to keep thinking Doc Brown is a human and his DeLorean is subject to human error.
I like this image a lot.

Thanks! Yeah, Gandalf sort of regenerated. I also like the idea that the wizards were a higher level of intelligence of sorts on Middle Earth, a bit like the Time Lords. James Bond, too, is mostly there for the 'regeneration' from actor to actor. He also fights colorful villains, usually with an attractive companion by his side.
I sort of see Doc Brown as another "Doctor-Donna"; starting off human and becoming a honorary Time Lord. Like, in the first movie, I see him as just a nutty scientist who's lucked upon a crazy invention. But by the end of the third movie, when he's in that slightly steampunk train, at that point I feel like he's maybe stepped up to something higher.
Ultimately, though, it's all just for fun. With enough time and creativity, you can make an argument for or against just about anyone.

I need to ask this for all of the Avatar the Last Airbender / The Legend of Korra fans, but would the Avatar be classified as a Time Lord?

Is it possible for a time lord to have more than 13 incarnations, because the Avatar has over/at least a thousand.

Oh, sure. The Master was granted additional regenerations a couple of times, I believe.

So "The Avatar" could have been a time lord who was granted additional regeneration and arrived to their world where he soon mastered all four elements which lead to the people treating him as a deity?

TravisTheGeek In reply to FreakAboutSims [2012-12-28 22:58:23 +0000 UTC]
Perhaps. It certainly wouldn't be the first time a Time Lord was made out to be a god. And perhaps their mastery of all forms of bending come from some advanced Time Lord technology! lol

Higher plane of reality. It's been referenced a few times on DW that there's a higher plane that we lower life-forms are blind to that was host to a big chunk of the Last Great Time War. "Koh the Face Stealer" totally fits in with things like "the Nightmare Child", and "the Army of Meanwhiles and Neverweres", and the "Horde of Travesties".

bond is up there because many actors have played the same character, just like the doctor , so he is said to have 'regenerated'

VERY clever! I especially like the tie in with 007. It certainly would explain why we see him in so many eras and with so many different faces.
Why did Sam Beckett from Quantum Leap not make the cut?
Nice style to this, as well.

Indeed. Originally, it was just going to be her space dress, but considering how she always dressed for the subject they were visiting and how many TARDIS dresses I've been seeing lately, it seemed to perfect to pass up.

I really went back and forth on Sherlock. He really does fit quite well and I believe there was even an era where the Fourth Doctor had a whole Holmes motif going. Truthfully, I left him out because I have an idea for Sherlock that I'd kinda like to tackle later, so I'm saving him for that.

Marry Poppins and Mrs. Frizzle being Time Lords explains so much. I can see how everyone else could be Time Lords as well, except Gandalf. There's already an explanation for him.

It relies mostly on the idea that all the different actors who've played him are different regenerations. Plus he relies on his wits and fantastic technology to defeat outlandish villains. The Bond Girls are a lot like companions, too.

Either one of them, but I almost went with Harry mostly to not conflict with Gandalf. But, yeah, just about any of the wizards work. Hogwarts was a lot like a Time Lord academe.

well i really say Dumbledore because he's old and he had two actors portray him. Time Lord right there. My other choice would have been Neville. Think about it, he's already terrible at magic (or was). Time Lords don't believe in magic. Neville just had a fob watch...

TravisTheGeek In reply to Kudos707 [2012-12-06 20:29:17 +0000 UTC]
You know, I honestly didn't even think of the fact that he was played by two actors. All respect to Richard Harris, but I always felt Michael Gambon just nailed the part and he tends to be the only one I ever think of.
And Neville is a good one, too. I've always been a fan of Neville.

Hello Travis. Great picture!
I have a question:
Is Mrs. Frizzle meant to be a conflation of four women (Mrs. Frizzle, River Song (Melody Pond), Astrid Peth (ASTRID PETH = THE TARDIS P(PARADOX)), and Idris (the TARDIS personified in Neil Gaiman's Doctor Who Series 6 episode "The Doctor's Wife"?

Not forgotten, actually. There was much thought of putting Dumbledore in here, but I figured he would be a little too similar to Gandalf. I actually considered Harry for a while, too, but space was limited and he just didn't quite make the cut.
