Description
Of course, the majority of Goths are unique in their style and music preferences. However, within the subculture there are certain "types" of Goth with particular characteristics. And it can be fun to classify them. Naturally, classifications for each "type" vary from person to person, so you may disagree with what I say here!Cyber fashion's really very cool, but tends to be too expensive

okay, here's what I wear. A bulltetproof vest, goggles, a gasmask, sometimes a trenchcoat, combat boots, a ninja-ish banner at my weist,black and grey camouflage shirts, and black jeans.
Judging by these features, what gothic style am I?

I consider myself probably about 50/50 Cyber Goth and Geek Goth. I greatly enjoy the music and clothing of cybergoth, but my gaming hobbies I feel make me rather on the geek side. I do have to say that I do tend to dress in a style I can only describe as dark cyber, which means darker more traditional colors like black and red as opposed to the neons. I like looking like a walking computer virus hehe.

Although, I do love the fashion and some of the music.
Cybers have actually overrun the Goth Subculture.
I hear more about fist pumping EBM being played more often then the Classics. When they do play any classic songs, its typically a remix.
I don't have anything against Cybers, even though most of the Cybers I have met are really... Rude. I just wish clubs would appeal to every type of Goth and not just one.
I know a lot of Cybers who don't know of Throbbing Gristle (the band who actually kickstarted and coined the term "Industrial") and it makes me so sad. :/

Also, the thing that cybers should not be goths is, according to me, very hard to determine. How about other goth styles such as perky goth then? (I do not mean they aren't goths.) Goth is very wide and stretches from the "core" out in the periphery, and then some things are predecided to be a little different. Personally I see cyber as goth, maybe because most of my other preferred styles are goth

I don't have anything against them either but like you I find most of them to be very rude, and I mean really rude. Even Cyber I've met has reminded me of the dreaded Mallgoths, you know? The posers that Hot Topic used to pump out until it decided to move on to Emo-wannabes and now Scene Kids. Personally I think Cybergoth is not Goth at all and to me it just seems that Cyber is the new face of Goth-wannabes but again that's just my opinion.

Yeah, there is that too. It really isn't "Goth", but its apart of the sister subgenre, industrial. Its starting to become a bit Generic and Mallgoth-ish.
They claim how they want to be accepted and loved in the community, but yet, they're nasty and rude to anyone who isn't just like them. Its just silly. I try my best to accept this "type", if you will, but I just find it hard. I'm a bit ashamed to say they're apart of the subculture.

of all goth stereotypes, i feel identified with this one , i love the look, the vision and specially ... the music sadly there is no cybergoths where i live. The place is crowded with poproaches and is hard not find people with the same thoughts, interests, music tastes, etc.

Alright well ... anyone who would classify themselves as goth and actually ARE tend to accept people that are open minded and not idiotic. Cyber goth isn't really the opposite of goth , yes one dwells on the past the other on the future and one listens to general gothic rock/ classical goth/ darkwave , and the other listens to EBM/ Electro-Industrial/ futurepop ... ect ect ect ... but they all have open minds and accept people. For example if you look at pictures from the yearly castle party in Poland there are regular goths, dark romantics, and cyber goths. You cant really classify what IS and whats NOT goth , one of the points of goth is to NOT be classified. It sort of ruins the point. Yes there are generalizations that can be made but really as long as people aren't idiotic and they believe that our world is imperfect they will more than likely be accepted by someone who classifies themselves as goth .... and to reply to the comments about hot topic .. HOT TOPIC IS NOT GOTH ... they are just a bunch of whinny emo teenagers who think its cool to wear black or that it's cool to be "weird" except if they actually saw anything worth being classified as grotesque then would run home crying. Also anyone who goes out of their way to classify their subculture as goth is trying to hard , its not what you say its your actions, your mind, and your personality that define you , not what you wear or what you try to be. ( Sorry if that sounded really hostile it was not meant to be , more meant to be a point of view.) PSSS.. the "weird hair" is called cyberlox/ cyber dreads/ or other forms of tails/falls
