Description
Read below for any common mistakes.I'm disabling comments, because I don't have the time any more to go through each question and comment I get sent to me on here. Chances are, by the time I answer any questions, the problems are already probably fixed.
And as I promised in the tutorial... Here's the Action script crap to copy and paste in:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
on(press) {
startDrag(this);
}
on(release) {
stopDrag();
Mouse.show();
}
on(rollOut)
{
Mouse.show();
}
on(releaseOutside) {
stopDrag();
}
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have fun!
The program used was Macromedia Flash MX 2004
Having a lot of people asking what Flash was. xD
If you want to download that specific version, all you have to do is google "Macromedia Flash MX 2004 trial". Simple as that.
*It seems some people are having issues with the coding, mostly people with the more recent Flash programs. So if you're having problems with getting the scripting to work, and you have one of the latest programs, chances are the script I posted up here ain't gonna work.
I suggest asking on Newgrounds.com's forum for any extra help with that.
BUT this might work for ya instead:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
on(press) {
startDrag(this);
}
on(release) {
stopDrag();
}
on(releaseOutside) {
stopDrag();
}
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, for gods sake, please make sure you paste the code on the actual object, rather than the actual layer, or it just wont work. Too many people have asked me why nothing will move, only to find that they had pasted the code on the layer instead of the object.
AND for people with the new version of Flash, this may help with the code problem, but I know nothing of it:
Quoted from ohyoshimi.
"you should note that this is actionscript 2.0, and if people are using cs3 to make sure they create an actionscript 2.0 file, because in 3.0 it will not work."

Sorry, I wouldn't know about Flash 9.
I'm surprised that the people on Newgrounds couldn't help you.. There'd probably be a lot of them who have the latest Flash.
Is it the full version of CS3? Have you tried an earlier version's trial?

No it's not the full version, it's a 30 day trial.
No i wanted flash 8.0 like we have at school, but it gave me 9.0 instead.

It? Like the official Adobe website, or do you mean you Googled "Flash 8.0 Trial" and it gave you 9? Cause the official Adobe website most likely wouldn't host the CS2 trials any more, just the latest versions.
Umm... Well, from memory I think someone got it working on CS2 with this code.

Nah, you need Flash.
I used Macromedia Flash MX 2004, but other versions can work too. Some need different codes than the ones I have on here though..

Usually.
If you're into paying for things, you can always try download a 30 day trial for Macromedia Flash MX 2004 if you Google it.

If your action tab is not already there, go to either view or window or one of those drop down lists on the top to find it. I forget which it's under, because I don't have the program any more.
Any way, when you have converted the item into a symbol (movie clip), in the actions tab, keep the item selected and just copy and paste the code in the description into the actions tab. Then you can deselect your item, and continue making more.

thank you for sharing! It's very helpful! Can I ask you another question? If I wish to "anchor" a dress on my doll, there is another action to put in? Example: I put the dress on my doll but I must fit the exactly position. I want to anchor the dress the first time i put it in and, after I have added the action, when I play the game the dress will find itself its position. Can you help me please?

Will ANY flash progam work, like a freeware one? Or does it have to be Macromedia Flash? Cause I don't have the money to shell out for a good version of flash. >_<
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
TricksyPixel In reply to daverox321 [2007-12-11 07:37:11 +0000 UTC]
I wouldn't even know of a freeware version.. But I wouldn't think the same codes apply as the same as Macromedia.
The new Adobe Flash versions I don't think work with this code, I think there's something different about it.

Rikachuuu In reply to ??? [2007-12-06 04:01:15 +0000 UTC]
here just do it
most people aren't sure of what they really want in life. I received this letter
from a friend on the computer, did what it told me to, and within a week,
everything I had wished came true!! Here's an exact copy,
this
really
works!!!!
*************************************************************
1. To yourself, say the name of the only guy or girl you wanna be with 3
times!
*************************************************************
2. Think of something you wanna accomplish within the next week and say
it to your self 6 times!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
3. If you had 1 wish what would it be? say it to yourself 9 times!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Think of something that you want to happen between you and that
1special person and say it to your self 12 times!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Now, heres the hard part! Pick only 1 of these wishes and as you scroll
down focus and concentrate on it and think on nothing else but that wish.
* *
* *
* *
* *
* *
Now make one last & final wish about that one wish that you picked.
After reading this, you have 1 hour to send it out to 15 people, and what
you wished for will come true within in one week!
u only get one chance!!!!! Now scroll down and think of your
crush!!!
Keep going
down
Keep going
Keep
going
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you think of your crush? I hope so, that was your last chance. Now
pay very close attention this important message!
Sorry but once read, must be sent. Yes, this is one of those kinda chain
letters that everyone hates. This one has been going since 1864 and if you
break this chain, you will pay!!!!!! Remember that after hearing these
stories.
First Example:
Take Barbra Wallace.. She was a pretty lucky girl, up till she got this same
chain letter. She had a crush on the same kid since kindergarden. when she
got this mail she didn't pay any attention to it. She just thought, no big deal.
And deleted it. The next day her dad got fired and her mom dies in a car
crash. If she would have sent the letter none of that would have happened
and her mom would be alive.
Second Example:
Try Freddie D. Now Freddie D. was your average nerd. Had glasses, was
short and chubby, was in gifted. All the signs of
your total dork. He also received this letter and sent it to 51
people in the hour. Now, like Barbra, he had a crush on a girl since 3rd
grade. The next day after sending the chain the girl confessed her love for
him ever since 3rd grade. Freddie D. finally had the courage to ask her out,
and of course, she had been waiting to yes to that for years. They grew up
and
married each other to live happily forever.
Third Example:
Now if you couldn't relate to the others, this'll get ya hooked. Listen to this.
A kid named Jordan Johnson was just getting on AOL to check his mail.
He was a quiet kid, not that popular but not a geek either. he was just
normal. He saw he had mail from his friend. It was this exact letter. Now
Jordan Johnsen was a smart kid and he knew what could happen if he didnt
pass it on. He simply pulled a few friends from his buddy list and sent it
along. The next day, about that same time, he got a phone call. It said he
had won the lottery!
then his dad came home and bought him a new bike! His mom bought him
Nintendo64 and play station! His grandmother sent him a new computer,
and his best friend
gave him tickets to the concert he wanted to go to, Kid Rock and Limp
Bizkit! Then he inherited a brand-new tv from his aunt! He was goin' wild!
the next day his secret crush asked him out, and they have been going out
ever since.
Now, you heard the stories. I know which person i'd rather
be, but thats up to you. I wouldn't wanna end up like Barbra but thats only
me. We all want what we cant have but now's ur chance to go out withthat
special somebody ur waiting for. Take it or leave it. If you send this to-
1 person- you will lose all luck in ur love life..... forever!!!!!
10 people- your crush will say they like you as a friend...... ONLY!!!!!
15 people- your crush will say they like you
20 people- your crush will ask you out!
25 people- your crush will kiss you!!
30 people - Your crush will have sex with you
35 people or more- All of the above!!
Don't blow it, it's ur chance to shine! Have everything u wanted, and more!
Now, complaining cus u dont have any
friends. Well theres an answer 4 everything. It's simple, just go in a chat
room, pick some names and send away! but here's the catch..... you only
have 1 hour
if the pain goes on im not gonna make it...!
You can make it with Flash MX 2004, or later versions.
You don't make it with a Flash Player.
You'll probably be able to find it underneath the stage, but if it's not there, just look under either Control or Window on the top tabs to find it. Should be somewhere up there, but I forget which list it's under.
Actually, .swf is the file you work on. You don't actually have to publish it. It's what Flash saves the project as. Deviant Art just wants you to upload the .swf file because it's proof that you created it, rather than just uploaded a Flash file that you found off the net.
