Okies!Those 4 people in my poll that didn't want to see anymore of this, DON'T LOOK!
Here's another series that covers some basic information on lenses.

Back in the 1970s, I was given this excellent rough definition.
Close-up photography is anything between the closest focusing distance of your unaided lens, and 1:1 reproduction on the film. You use extension rings, close-up (+ dioptre) lenses, and soon.
Macrophotography is creating images of between 1:1 and 10:1 on the film/sensor.
Anything over 10:1 is microphotography - though this used to be called photomicrography, since it was usually done through a microscope. True "microphotography" is when you photograph ordinary objects down to very small size on the negative with extreme clarity (such as microdots).

Thanks so much for this one ( I have the nikkor 105mm micro )!!! For the longest I was not understanding the difference....it's nikkor!!!

I personally like it that they don't use the word "macro". All that seems to do now is muddle things up.

thank you for the clarification on the ratios, it had confused me a while back when i was choosing my first studio camera..these are great tutorials Bob. though i know about them now, it was so confusing before..this will help many people if they take time to read these tutorials you have made..nice work
