Description
An alternative title to this drawing would be "modern retro... done properly"This is not just a car design, but a retaliation to two things.
First and foremost; new Bugattis. The veyron's fast, and it is good looking. It doesn't look very Bugatti-like, but hey, it's alright. Especially compared to the styling of most modern cars.
But then they made that awful C16 Galibier concept... no, just no. That is *not a Bugatti. It's not because you stick two-tone black and blue paintwork on it that you can charge a million dollars or more.
Am I the only one who has noticed that the Galibier looks like the ugly spawnchild of a Porsche Panamera and Audi A3 ? These two cars look fine on their pown, but should not be mixed together.
Take a look at these comparison pics, and see what I mean -

Come on, it's an Audi-Porsche with fancy paintwork. The big point being Bugatti is (or at least is supposed to be) french - and the current design path they're taking couldn't be much more german. The germans are taking over all the european brands. I have no problem with german cars - they look good and are well-made... but when it comes to them buying out other european companies, can't they at least use stylists who are familiar with the designs of that brand ?
And that moves on sort-of mabe-not-so smoothly to the second critique - modern-retro styling in general. For example the new Bentley Mulsanne (another example of VW making a travesty of a good car) They try to go old-school with the huge headlamps, reminisnig back to the old bentleys. But it just turns out ugly. They tried to mix the old look with the general newer bentley shape. Don't be fooled, it's ugly. it looks like a retarded happy face front-on. See what I mean? - [link]
General 'modern retro' styling just seems to be a couple of random retro elements added into a new shape. Or the other way round. Swap the nice curvy edges for ugly sharp angles, and the gloss paint for metallic and hey presto, a modern retro car. Whatever...
The only guys I can think of that can do it properly are Morgan. Their EvaGT was half the inspiration for this concept.
And so, rant out the way, I present you with my Bugatti EB 570 concept. What I think a new, modern-retro Bugatti *should* look like. Obvious Bugatti design - and not just because it's black and blue. Reminiscing the popular type 57, yet having a bigger, more spacious cabin that could (sort of) seat 4 (I haven't thought about the interior much), and the front end, though being a much more modern shape, blends into the rest of the car quite well in my opinion.
Now be honest, supposing the engine, interior and gadgets were the same, and they cost the same, only difference was the outside design - would you take the aforementioned audi-porsche Galibier C16, or my EB 570 concept ?
I don't mean to appear big-headed or anything with this, I guess I'm just sick of seeing good car brands ruined. I'm curious on epople's thoughts of my design, so if you're reading this, let me know what you think

Well, it's a car, isn't it?

It's an interesting design, but realistically it would be a rolling death-trap. Considering how far back the driver would have to sit, even if you were six and a half feet tall you wouldn't be able to see more than halfway up the hood. The rear window looks cool, but, again, it would create a massive blind-spot for the driver.

Point... but you seem to have forgotten that many cars have the driver sitting this far back - or further. The Jaguar E-Type for example has a considerably further back driving position, and a current Rolls is pretty similarly placed - not to mention the countless 20s and 30s cars with very long bonnets.
I agree on the rear view though..; that was more for looks than anything. I guess the only people who would find it gives good visibility are Koenigsegg drivers

Personally, I agree, although you design is a bit too retro and kills the 60 years between now and then.
Most companies lose there spirit and its inevitable, look at Ferrari, the le mans speed demon engineers are all gone. Fiat and Volkswagen are the two greatest car company killers the world has seen.
Volkswagen I'd say screwed up with the Veyron, and I don't forgive them. I think Bugatti is buried and it might never see the day again. But its not the only, look at Triumph MG or all the other companies that died. I think the era gives them a soul which you can't remodel to fit another era, and if someone does it, they need to be very careful, and I'm sure a new bugatti could take up the legacy, it's jusT HARD.
