Description
My 'Evil Gauntlet' a Work In Progress, my current armor project. With the chainmaille vest at a virtual standstil, IΒ΄ve unshelved this project from a couple years back.
I meanth to start it as an art-class project, but it got denied due to materials and time, never designed more than the pink back then.
So now I'm doing it at home ^^
The material is my trusty 1mm thick aluminium leftover sheet. Sawn and bent into shape.
The modeling was done by me, on my own hand with cardboard and masking tape. It took al while to get right, but when that was completed, production could start.
Gonna do an armguard down from my wrist to halfway my forarm. But I'm still figuring out the wrist joint. Help will be appreciated
this Deviation will be scrapped when i finish the real deal

Well, I'm on chainmail crafting yet, but your job really inspires me. Hope you can give hints when I start my own.
Great job. Cant wait to see it done.

^^ thanks, I'm very fond of it as well
ehm, design, getting the parts right took like, 1 to 2 hours per part (depending on which part)
end the metal work took about another 2 to 3 hours per part to get it right
I've now got every bit you see in the picture in the first metal form (crude base) so now it's on to designing phase 2, which is the wrist and armguard
after that its decorating and enforcing

I don't know why I haven't left a comment for this yet! I am always browsing and I thought I had left one hehe my bad.
Dude that is sick, I want one....well a finished one anyway have you made any more progress with it?

stage 1 is almost completed, and will most likely be by the end of this week (no school this week ^^ )
I only need to do the tip on the ringfinger and pinky to complete stage 1.
stage 2 consists of everything from the wrist down, and getting the wristjoint right is gonna be tricky
and stage 3, the final stage, is decoration and reinforcement. which i plan to do by pouring molten aluminium over the finished pieces. I just need to build a smelter from a microwave. not that hard, but I need time and a location to set it up
so yeah, thank you for your comment ^^
and if you want one, who's stopping you??

Nice. Smelter from a microwave? As in putting metal into a microwave and melting it.....in a microwave?

yep, there are some articles about it on the net.
You use a hollow crucible that has walls filled with carbon-sulfides, or something that converts microwave energy into thermal energy. Simple 900 Watt microwaves can reach local temperatures over 1200 degrees Celcius. That's more than enough to melt Aluminium and other such metals.
Tests have shown that this is even a more energy conserving way to melt metal, cause an open flame gives off more energy to the surroundings.
Anyway you should give it a google: Melting metal in a microwave.

That looks great so far.
Will you paint it black in the end so it looks more "evilish" ?

^^ thank you for liking it.
The original plan was to do a second layer alu in tribal design and try to anodize those in 'red bull' blue, but I found that bending that was almost impossible (due to size), and i haven't tried anodizing (yet)
The current plan is to melt scrap alu in a home smelter (microwave) and pour the toplayer. Though I haven't gotten round to starting that up either.
I must admit, the black idea does sound good, I might experiment with that, so thank you for the idea.

most of the times, yes. though it does get a bit sweaty on the bottomside where my pink is. after a good hour anyways.
but with the modeling done to fit, I hardly notice i'm wearing it. my fingers don't even throb, eccept for in direct sunlight.
thanks for faving my gauntlet ^^
