Sadly, they either want you to track down the original piece or the original owner or they mark it invaild. Funny part? You can beef up a ticket with so much proof but, if you forget one thing or if they change their rules again, it's marked invaild.

Recently, yesterday, my thread was locked because it was "common" and the mod told me to read the Forum rules for what is common.
The problem was, I DID read it and it wasn't a common (i.e. Having the option to use your collections for Favoriting Comments).
I consulted him about it, but he said it was STILL a common. I told him that it's not against the rules to post it though, and he wasn't doing his job correctly.
I assume he got butthurt because he didn't reply. :I Oh you mature admins/mods. c:

A few years later I dropped that topic on one of the mods/volunteers I found at Help Desk, and she explained me that at the time I got banned for those "invalid reports", DA policy had already changed so that only the original artists could report the theft (while reports from third parties would've been either ignored or marked as invalid). I just wanted to scream: "So. . . Couldn't tell us a wee-bit EARLIER?!" but then again, she was only a volunteer, not an admin. Since then, when I find anything that looks like stolen, I try my best to track the original artists (both inside and outside DA) and warn them as soon as I can.

I'm aware of this, but I only ever reported things WITH a source to prove where they where taken from.

And in my case, I was banished for harassment, IE: Trying to show a single finger of mercy with the FAQs. I've pinpointed the exact user who reported me.
