Please download for better view of text.People often ask me if/how I made my Keyblade. So I decided to post a tutorial. This was all done by memory from over a year and a half ago so I hope I got all the steps.
Supplies:
1. Wooden Pole
2. Rigid Insulation Foam (R.I.F.)
3. Wonderflex
4. Friendly Plastic
5. Box Cutter
6. Chain
7. Keyring
8. Sumo/Gorilla glue
9. Paints
10. Sander
11. Electric Drill
12. Hook
13. Pliers
14. Paintbrush
15. Electrical Tape
Sorry for any typos
Remember to be extremely careful while working on this. It's easy to hurt yourself if you aren't paying attention. Always cut away from yourself and if you don't know how to use a drill, ask someone to do it for you that knows how.
Be very careful with the glue as well. It's SUPER sticky and if it gets on your skin, it's staying there.

Yes, it was my first Keyblade. It was actually the first real prop that I made. *Kenshiro-FDP helped me out a lot with it because I had no idea what I was doing. I made a second one for my Roxas *twinfools and it was much easier that time around.
I have also made the Pumpkinhead Keyblade, but that one I did completely on my own and was rushed to get it done before Halloween. I would love to remake it and do a tutorial for that one as well.

You should remake Pumpkinhead! That would be awesome. I have a Roxas cosplay with no wig and Keyblade T.T I need to make Oathkeeper and Oblivion or just get two random Keyblades. Though I think the Oathkeeper and Oblivion would be smarter.
Have you posted your second Kingdom Key? I haven't seen it yet.

Hehe I have made one before, but I would like to remake it with better materials and more time. So I might post a tutorial for that one, but it wont be for awhile

I wish I had this tutorial before I made mine XD I went through so much trying different materials D: but I finally figured it out :3 who knows when I'll find the time/money to make the costume....maybe I'll just do casual...XD

Yes, I have had to do a few small repairs. It is mainly just paint that is chipped. Some of the handle got a few dings in it, but I just sanded it down and repainted it.

Ooooh, I was wondering of rigid foam would work--and you've shown that it does! Thank you! I was thinking of then going the extra mile and cutting out bits of sheet plastic (if you can get it) and gluing it over the foam bits to make it sturdier. Though I guess insulation foam isn't exactly delicate....

That's a good idea. While RIF is pretty sturdy, if it gets hit the wrong way, it could break. So reinforcing it is always good

I'm glad I'm not totally off my rocker. I just hate the thought of hours of hard work going down the drain when an exuberant con-goer hits your prop the wrong way. >_<

Ah! This is a great tutorial but is it possible to apply this for making of other Keyblades, like Vanitas's Keyblade?

Well, you can take the basic idea from this tutorial and apply it to other Keyblades, but each one is different so there would be different steps you would need to do

I'm not sure. If you can find one at a con then it might be cheaper/easier to buy it. I just don't know how much it would cost to get one on Ebay or over other websites. Shipping on those must be a lot.
