Please download for better view of text.People often ask me if/how I made my Keyblade. So I decided to post a tutorial. This was all done by memory from over a year and a half ago so I hope I got all the steps.
Supplies:
1. Wooden Pole
2. Rigid Insulation Foam (R.I.F.)
3. Wonderflex
4. Friendly Plastic
5. Box Cutter
6. Chain
7. Keyring
8. Sumo/Gorilla glue
9. Paints
10. Sander
11. Electric Drill
12. Hook
13. Pliers
14. Paintbrush
15. Electrical Tape
Sorry for any typos
Remember to be extremely careful while working on this. It's easy to hurt yourself if you aren't paying attention. Always cut away from yourself and if you don't know how to use a drill, ask someone to do it for you that knows how.
Be very careful with the glue as well. It's SUPER sticky and if it gets on your skin, it's staying there.

Doesn't the electrical tape come off and leave sticky black goo everywhere? Or is the stuff we're using just really old?

I've had my Keyblade for 2 years now and haven't had any trouble with the tape. I think as long as you aren't picking at it then it will be fine. You can always add another layer if it does start to get sticky, though. Then it'll be good as new

Wow. This is really ironic. Here I was about to buy a keyblade on ebay for roughly around $100 when I checked my dA account. I always thought you made the keyblade with wood, I never thought it took less than what I thought. Haha. Maybe I should try this method instead...it might save me some money. No problem. The materials can be expensive, but by making it yourself you can personalize it can it fit your body size-wise. I know I had lots of fun while making it so it is more fun to cosplay with

Yeah. I'm not too handy with the whole sewing thing/making stuff on my own. Haha. I'm trying though. Because I know exactly what you mean by "attachments." Like when you make something, you feel you've earned it and it's something you can be proud of as a visual artist and craftsman/woman. ^^ So for now, I'll have to stick to buying stuff at the moment...But I do plan on making my own keyblade in the spring/summer. so awesome! i was wodnering how to make a better keyblade then a uber lame on i made of cardboard over a year ago... now i realy wanna try to make it! but is RIF just as toxic as normal insulation foam?

RIF is made out of different materials and isn't toxic

How long is your Keyblade? Also, how big does the piece of R.I.F need to be?

My keyblade is sized to fit my body/height. You can make yours however tall you want
