Skullsplashmon is up against more than it can handle, and Devimon seems to be enjoying it a bit too much. Thomas is not happy with the situation at all...

STORY SNIPPIT:

He decided to step in and do something about it. “Alright, Devimon!” he yelled loudly, hoping to catch his partner’s attention. “That’s enough! He’s beaten. Grab a fang and let’s go.”

But Devimon ignored him completely. Instead, he cackled madly as he brought his long claws raking across Skullsplashmon’s muzzle. The enemy digimon crashed to the snow, clearly still weakened from whatever attack Devimon had first used. “You’ll eat me, will you?” Devimon crowed triumphantly. “I think it’ll be just the opposite! I’ll slice you up and have you for dinner instead! You can die knowing this weakling tore you apart!”

Thomas’ eyes widened in shock, and then narrowed in anger. This is wrong. This isn’t what we’re about. “Devimon!” he yelled again, louder this time. “Enough! You won! You’re strong. Leave him alone or you’ll kill him!”

But his partner still ignored him. Skullsplashmon fired his Ground Zero missile attack, but the move was weakened by whatever Devimon had done, and the demon digimon was easily able to dodge it. One long, spider-like limb reached out and snatched Skullsplashmon by the throat, lifting the struggling digimon effortlessly into the air, while he began charging a dark, evil-looking energy in his other palm. The oily, cruel aura around him seemed to intensify, and Devimon smirked unpleasantly, fangs gleaming as he said, “Or maybe I’ll just let you dissolve slowly, piece by piece—”

Thomas had enough. They had been through too damned much, the both of them, for things to turn out like this. He gripped the digivice in his bad arm so hard he almost thought it would break, his shoulder twanged with pain. But he didn’t care about either of those things. Instead, he took a deep breath, and yelled at the top of his lungs, “Demidevimon!”

Shockingly, the incorrect name seemed to catch the demon digimon’s attention. Devimon paused in the act of charging his energy attack and looked over his shoulder, seeming surprised. “Thomas?” he asked slowly. His voice was much lower in his new form, but for the first time lacked the cruel, snarling edge it had previously every other time he talked. “I’m not Demidevi—”

“I don’t care!” Thomas snarled back, and he didn’t care that he’d interrupted his partner, either. “Is this what we were working so hard for? To get stronger, so you could evolve into a damn bully? So you could forget so fast all the crap you went through?”

He grit his teeth angrily—he rarely got so mad, but he could barely contain his rage now. “Well, if this is what you really are,” he grated out, “then I don’t want any part of it anymore.” And with a note of finality he hurled his digivice on the ground. Devimon’s eyes widened in shock, and the evil aura around him seemed to diminish, but Thomas didn’t care about that either. He just gripped his injury still harder, digging his fingers into the cuts he had earned for nothing, and turned to stumble off back the way they had come.
