Description
Page 16 of a comic strip I am working on that is set in ancient Rome and is about the early life of Gaius Julius Caesar. The final panel of the page contains a couple of non-Roman characters β the chaps with beards are Jews. The Subura in Rome had a high population of Jews, and in Caesarβs time, the Subura was the location of the only synagogue in Rome.

I remember that in the book (Fortunes Favourites I believe) it is said that Caesar learns to speak seven or eight languages because in his mothers insula there are people from many nationalities.

In McCullough's novels Caesar does indeed speak many languages. Whether he could do this in reality we'll never know. We do know that he was bilingual in both Latin and Greek (like most Roman aristocrats), but if he spoke any other languages is unknown, as far as I am aware!
However, Aurelia and her insula will be making an appearance on the next page...

One of the jews has a red beard - is he an Irish man? A celt?
I love the expression of the guy in the orange robe when Caesar jumps of the roof!

Ha! That hadn't occurred me! Though I doubt Judaism would have reached the Celts at this point in history.
I bet the chap in orange got quite a shock when a random teenager fell down next to him!!
