Description This is a rough layout for Page 6 of a comic strip I am working on that is set in ancient Rome and is about the early life of Gaius Julius Caesar.

As I am currently at my parents' house for Christmas I don't have much chance to draw any new pictures, so I thought I'd upload this, which I have been working for the last few months.

Oh, this is the one when Pompey Magnus is told Sulla has arrived! I recognize it - isn't this one from Fortune's Favourites, in the beginning? Well done!

That's right, this is where Pompey decides to join Sulla.

'Fortune's Favourites' certainly served as inspiration for my comic, although I also used various other historical sources to write the story.

Colleen McCullough's stories are so wonderfully accurate that unfortunately any story from that same period will inevitably bear certain similarities! As you can see, though, I changed certain things, for example, I put Pompey in the bath instead of his bed like he was in the book - I didn't want to seem too derivative!

It is better this way - placing Pompey in the bad looks better - otherwise you would have had to draw blankets and that might be harder!

I am looking forward to the rest of the comics - it looks very well, and accurate. I mean, Colleen McCullough said Pompey was in bed, but he could have been in bad aswell!
