Description
Comic tomorrow - I pulled something in my thigh somehow and sitting in a chair is not working right now. So here's something I finished earlier today and didn't get around to posting.Variations on dudes, because they come in all sorts of different sizes. And some minor anatomy stuff.
Next: Gals.
OV charas, because of because. Also Santa Claus.
How I Does It - table of contents
[ETA:] Tweaked Optimus' back a bit.

Somehow, I'm not suprised that Megatron in a towel would turn up here It's good to see comparisons between each of the body types, this'll help!

I recognized Meg's right off, anyway (hee, poutyface). And I fig'd that was Silverbolt, part due to the hair, part due to his being ginormous.
For some reason, your Prime makes me happy. Possibly due to his being a fuzz-ball. Ttly not enough dudes drawn with body hair out there.
Well, except, like, Wolverine.

Except I'm thinking you got 'em backwards because Megatron is huge and Silverbolt is annoyed that I didn't allow him trousers, see previous, "Darnit, I'm doing it wrong if they can't be recognised sans colours and clothes" note.
Can't totally blame people for leaving off fuzz. It's a nuisance to put in. ( So they must be reminded that the extra effort is worth it. )

I recognized Primal, Rattrap, Scorponok, Santa, and Rhinox. Who are the other two (mainly the one you're laughing at)?

Megatron and Silverbolt. ( Obviously I need to work on things if people can't recognise 'em without clothes. )

Megatron I recognized, but Silverbolt took me a second. It's the fact that he's hiding his shame that gave him away (you have rather a lot of attractive sleek-haired men in this cast). (Also that hip thing very often makes me go 'mmm, manhips,' so it's not like the face was the first place I looked.)

Well, I thought I may have recognized one of them to be Megs, but I wasn't too sure about the other one.

I've seen lines on a back like that. Don't know what they are either. They're only visible in some positions, and I think it depends on muscle tone, too.
As to the calves, well, they've got to have SOME comic-book proportions after all. Your style here is realistic, but still has the look of a cartoon. Some things have got to be exaggerated so they stand out better with fewer lines. And some things (like veins on Terrorsaur's wrist in a previous bishie pic) have to be left out altogether, because they'd look too distinct on paper.
Taking note of some of these, especially that hip bulge there. I've seen it on the real thing but almost never in comics and art, so I've never included it myself. But it really does help them look more like a guy's hips.
Tee-hee. Santa. ^_^

I'm forever goofing up backs, anyway. All this means is I need to do more research, because I totally need more excuses to look up pictures of fit, half-naked dudes on the Internet.

True -- it's not exactly tiresome research, is it?
I stand by what I said about the calves, though. Too much is better than too little, since calves tend to disappear easily in lineart, I've found.

The "sort of flap bit" is the latissimuss dorsi. It's a big damn muscle that covers a large section of the back.
I think you might be exaggerating the positioning of the calf muscles a bit. Calf muscles move and bulge in different places depending on the position and tension of the leg.
What're the lines down Primal's back supposed to be? They don't conform to any anatomical feature I can recognise ... the upper parts might be shoulderblade edges but the lower parts are curving across/through where the latissimus dorsi should be.

I can never remember the names of things. They are things! They do stuff!
Exaggeration for purposes of ... cartooning, come to think of it. Is why this is all being sold as a 'how I do it: mostly, I'm lazy and I cheat' rather than a 'this is an accurate tutorial that you must follow'.
Phoo, I'm forever goofing up backs. Fix will happen after I run some errands.

I don't know the names either, I just look them up when I need to use the names.
Haah.
Obviously you need some shirtless men to pose for you.

Admit it, this page was less about showing drawing techniques, and more about an excuse to draw a bunch of hunky shirtless guys.

It was mostly about, 'dudes come in more types than 'seventeen year old hairless bishie'.'
Not that I need much excuse to draw hunky shirtless guys.
