Description
Thought I should finally design MASA's uniform.I wanted the uniform to be black in deference to MASA's questionable affiliations.
The red sash indicates he wearer is a "Conquistador", part of the organizations explorer elite who have had extensive experience shaking down alien cultures in pursuit of extra-terrestrial goods and resources.
I wanted blue elements as a highlight to suggest, how the color blue, rarely encountered in space, has acquired an almost religious significance to MASA personnel.
I know pants are a rare element to add to a woman's uniform for me, but somehow it seemed right for this outfit.
As always, I appreciate your thoughts.
"Destroy all monsters. Wherever they may exist."
In case you were wondering what the inscription meant.

Amazing what swapping out one letter does. And finally someone gets the joke. I guess most folks are mispronouncing it "May-sa".
Either that or "Mee-sa", as if the galaxy would be colonized by Jar Jar fans.

Ah, and another thing. I wonder why I'm getting a Kriegsmarine vibe from this uniform...did you take some inspiration from there, or was this based on anything else?

I find that the wings on the pants don't match the strikingly sleek high heels, and possibly think about a darker shade of blue for the Uniform, as much as I love that light and cheerful shade of blue, and if that exact color of blue is a must (I'm assuming you picked it for the blue shades you see when you look at earth from above {or any planet with water} ) then perhaps a dark gray for the uniform instead black, it would still be Millitant and somewhat seedy, while bringing the red and blue together more

You're the second person to object to the jodhpurs. Oh well, tight pants showcase the butt better anyway.

Well I don't actually object to them either, I understand the fashion of the matter, and they do give the outfit, be it a Uniform or otherwise an very interesting and somewhat formal silhouette. I just don't think they match up too well with those fine high heels, I'd pair them off more likely with a pair of wingtips or possibly with a pair of woman's riding boots instead. And Yes tight pants to showcase the butt nicely, though the jodhpurs do insinuate in a sort of artificial way, some nice child bearing hips.

I don't object to them on a dress uniform, but as something to be worn on duty I don't think they work.
Despite what you see on Star Trek, and other sci-fi shows, real navy (and especially a realistic space navy) vessels are not noted for giving one a great deal of personal space.

Pretty cool outfit!! I like the militaristic aspects of it, and I've always liked when women wear those kinds of clothes (except for the boots...flat-soled always looks better, IMO).
You've probably already told me this, so I apologize for asking again...but what does MASA stand for, again?

Multinational AeroSpace Association.
Formerly the "M" use the stand for "military", and the second "A" stood for "Armada", but I thought a more innocuous sounding name would add a subtler tone to the their quiet menace.

Okay, I've finally got it.
Multinational AeroSpace Armada.
I like "Multinational" (Volunteered by the dangerously verbose, Kite-San ) as it connotes all of humanity banding together for a common cause.
I figured I reintroduce the word "Armada: to the mix, since now it can suggest the strength of the organization without being blatant, or redundant as it would have been with the inclusion of the term "Military."

Promus-Kaa In reply to we-r-nomad [2010-08-24 23:57:54 +0000 UTC]
THERE we go! Oddly enough I like that one the best. Reintroducing "armada" works perfectly, especially since the rest of the acronym sounds sufficiently "civilian." After such nice, high-minded terms like "aerospace" and "multinational," "armada" sort of comes along and makes you do a double-take.

Well I had an idea that Hisa joined Mirage as part of a circumlocutory undercover operation to get FMP to do the dirty work of capturing you guys.
I figure that, I might as well pull back on that idea. I've been playing enough with other people's toys, and it's clear you've got your own stories character arcs to tell.
I'm sure I can come up with I own OC to fill out the MASA jodhpurs.
So now I guess you could say she was modeling the uniform. A little costume play for her boss-lady.

Surement vous plaisante! It is an honor to be featured in your ideas. Likewise, we hope that you understand how influential, creative, and appreciated you are when you appear in some of our work.
Seeing that others know and even interact with one's own personal mythology, it seems, is a real treat. It tells the mythos-creator that the other is not just interested, but has actively read and 'researched' (for however much work that is ) the subject matter- whether it be character's themes and motivations or a grander subject, like the nature of the FMP.
Mmm. Very cute, and I must tell her that I approve.
Though I do think that the glasses would look good on your own creation, whomever he (or more likely she) may be. It gives her a dignified and upstanding feel, and for someone busily working through politics, it seems fitting - maybe a little more so than someone who worked in the field like Marhsall.

I like the coloration, actually. I've been a fan of asymmatrical color schemes for a few 'futurist' uniform designs I've done in the past, though none quite like this of course. That was also before I would be inclined to put high-heels on a uniform with wild abandon... or make them mainly out of leather or stretch vinyl or latex or--
Ahem! Focus, now. ^_^;; Very interesting uniform design. Quite authoritarian, but then MASA and the Humans in general don't seem to be particularly.., well, shall we say 'light and fluffy?' They look like the uniform's been designed to not take crud from anyone. Interesting that there's a 'conquistadore' 'class' of sorts; is alien life common enough that Human ships occasionally come upon them and 'shake them down?'
So what is the FMP's view of this uniform? ^_^

During the instances where Robolords occasionally converse with Conquistadors (Usually during diplomatic conferences on Husque. ) , the guileless machines often openly comment how "maidifiable" they find any females in their number.

O_O And neither the Conquistadors nor the MASA 'diplomatic corps' (First Combat Negotiation Battaltion, Third Space-Mobile Regiment, First Division 'Pacem Per Pyros Superious') made any comment about the Robolords, accused by AMAZON of maidifying countless Human females, saying this? O_O! Wow... are the Conquistadores that cynical? or do they just so completely doubt the rumors and think the Robolords are pulling their legs?
Or... are they part of the problem?

A sadly all to common term in the modern military.
Usually applied to those performing unpleasant or simply badly timed details. As well as those attending "voluntary" formations such as squadron picnics, fun runs, and other morale building exercises.
Often used in conjunction with the term "mandatory fun".

Pants may be a rare thing, but the high heels aren't.
My joking aside, I think it's pretty cool and dark. Is that a rank insignai, on the upper-right chest area? And is this an officer's uniform, or do enlisted personnel wear the same outfits?

Ooh, shiney
I like the tuxedo jacket tail & the hint of jodhpurs on the pants. Query on the red sash: Is it sewn in to the uniform or draped over? If over, should it continue to and be anchored by the shoulder accents (which there is a name for that escapes me at the moment).
Also: That's a fitting expression on the person wearing the uniform. Looks like she's running calculations about how far the ship's batteries could be dialed down and still effectively vaporize the camera crew she's posing for.

SuichiTanaka [2010-08-11 00:27:33 +0000 UTC]
I like the overall design of the uniform, but I would omit the MASA logo from the arm sleeves, as it attracts your eye to it, away from the rest of the design. With the logo on the belt buckle and the brooch, it doesn't need to be repeated anywhere else. Instead, maybe blue and gold cufflinks.
The one on the collar is distracting as well, as there's a lot of detail in the area. The blue stripe leads up to the face nicely, so it's a shame to introduce anything that would interrupt the natural eyeline.
How about a stripe along the outside of the pant legs, that matches the red of the coat? That would allow you to see rank from the sides as well as the front. It would also help to balance out the top heavy detail of the uniform.
