Description A scene/panel from 'Casualties of War', the twelfth story in my Avatar: The Last Airbender fan-fiction series found at [link]

------------------------------------------------------

Excerpt from 'Casualties of War'
(chapter 7 - Innocence)

For several astonished heartbeats, mother and son stared wide-eyed at each other across their respective lengths of steel. Then, as the reality of the situation finally sank in, swords and dagger clattered simultaneously to the floor, and Ursa stepped forward to sweep Zuko into a fierce embrace.

All thought, all reason, all expectation was reduced to this single, desperate hold on one another, so that nothing more was exchanged between them beyond Zuko’s dazed but exultant whisper.

“You’re alive.”

----------------------------------------

This is my very first attempt at a comic-book style panel. Hopefully it makes sense. If not, um....read the fan fic.

Whenever something is giving me a strange, yet wonderful, feeling, I can't stop looking at it for some reason. I keep looking at the last panel. Can you post the Casualties of War story here on deviantart? Oh, and I used to be one of your repliers. Well, I used to. I replied to the story with Ursa's twin in it. I don't remember the username I used. I think it was avatar2233.

Ursa's twin?
Sorry, but I’ve never written a story about Ursa having a twin.

As for posting my fan fiction to deviantArt, I’m really not up to doing that. I tried it once and got terribly frustrated with the formatting process, abandoning the chore before I managed to get even halfway through one chapter. I decided then that there was no way I was going to attempt putting over 120 chapters of written material on DA.

And sadly, 'Casualties of War' would make no sense whatsoever without the eleven preceding stories (or the ones that follow it).

So I'm afraid the only way to view my 'mock season three' series is to follow this [link] to my FanFiction.net page and read all the 'episodes' from there.

WOW. There's not much I can say about this...

(However...)

I really like Zuko's hands in the bottom panel. Not only are they exceptionally well-drawn (well do I know how difficult it is to draw hands), but the way they're gripping the fabric is an eloquent statement of emotion in itself. It really conveys how much he needs this moment.

Thank you! You have no idea how happy it makes me that you pointed out that specific detail.

I spent HOURS trying to get Zuko's hands 'just right' because i really wanted to show the 'desperate embrace' that i don't feel i adequately described in the written work. So it does me a world of good to know that it was noticed here.
