Martin's Comments: I wasn't really sure if I wanted to be forthcoming with this or not but I feel like it's probably better to be - this is the end of Alex's involvement in the chapter. The actual core confrontation's going to be happening without them present for it.

This has pretty much been planned the entire time - Hazel even said as much at the end of chapter 31 in the page directly laying the groundwork for the crossover in the first place - but am kind of worried it might come off as a bit of a copout. Am hoping it won't too much since we still have Occam, Ivy, Protocol, the Black Court, the Blues kids, Jake, and the group not called Militant Gold all also gathered here, pretty massive teamup regardless but yeah, Alex isn't actually going to be part of the fight proper. That's kind of been part of why there's been so much buildup before getting into the action, wanted to have some room to properly bounce the characters off of each other, though also just kind of had a lot of ground to cover before getting into it. Still a few pages yet on that but we're not super far off, hoping it isn't feeling like it's taking too long.

Granted I imagine the schedule's helping with that, we've only actually been running the crossover for just over a month now and this far in so if nothing else I imagine it's not exactly dragged.

Kind of liked getting to have these moments with Occam, Ivy, Christina, and the Black Court all being concerned and supporting in their own ways. Christina was indeed involved in a similar situation, though at a point in time when the AME was a very different beast than it is now and unknown to all involved Hazel actually helped them foil that in the first place , so makes sense she'd be the one to suggest Sareena and Misty handle it since they did a fine job of it for her. ... Sidenote wow both she and Sareena are too pale in that page, weird to look back on. Either way, I like getting to show that while they are worried about it, they also kind of recognize that under the circumstances it's still probably better for them to not risk being seen given how clear Hazel's being about what he actually wants presently.

Adam's Comments: I really struggle to recognize that it's been just over a month that this crossover started. Doing one comic this heavily instead of juggling two is WEIIIRD.

But yeah, great page here, like Martin said there's so many great little moments with everybody choosing to react differently. Was particularly fun doing Starchild's expressions as they start out panicked and concerned before being brought down to being more calm and ready to be awesome again.

My favorite reaction is definitely Ivy League's. She's immediately helpful and gives Alex exactly the support they need when they need it, assuring them that the fight will be okay and that they need to take care of the people they care about. She's such a normally-heartless character that this moment felt very natural, especially since she has loved ones too and can sympathize with Alex's immediate instinct.

Also she does it while genuinely complimenting several members of the assembled group, which is just so nice. And also while throwing some wonderfully backhanded shade on everyone ELSE in the group, which is even better. ^_^
