Description
As I promised: reconstruction of Ornitholestes hermanni in a lively pose. This individual is busy with the absorption of food after a successful hunt. Since his description, he is often depicted preying on the Archaeopteryx, which actually never met him. But what if such relatives of birds were also found in North America? From late Jurassic sediments in Utah known tooth called Koparion, presumably belonging to troodontid. But here I decided to draw something more like Anchiornis.Of course, the name Ornitholestes means "bird robber", which was reflected in the works of paleoartists. Including myself.Β Β
With regards to the feathers, especially those on the "hands". Recently got the extended version with "wings" as in maniraptorans, but Ornitholestes is not requiredas maniraptoran, although close to them. Therefore, instead of pennaceous feathers I gave him "wings" of the long fiber "feathers".

I find basal coelurosauria very fascinating. Like the dinosaur in this picture, or Santanaraptor, Coelurus and the compsognathids.

There were small paravians in the Morrison Formation called Paleopteryx thompsoni, only known from a radius and partial femur from two individuals. Other than that, nothing else is known about them, though they may have been similar to Eosinopteryx but that is just speculation on my part from what I have read.

Yeah, I know. Mysterious animal. Although his presence proves the ubiquity of maniraptorans already in the Jurassic period.
