Description
So, this is my first work with at least some background, which I colored digitally. An adult Tarbosaurus bataar, Asian "cousin" of T. rex, resting after hearty lunch. The remains of the carcass do not go unnoticed, and two alvarezsaurids Mononykus olecranus came to them. They may have been attracted by insects swarming on the carcass, but it is possible that they wanted to supplement their diet with something more. Small dinosaurs are cautious, but they still have nothing to fear: well-fed predators sleep soundly.
In fact, this work is a remake of an old drawing from back in 2015. It was in a series of planned alterations of some works with the background. It's clear that I found a lot of errors after all these years. I changed the anatomy and slightly changed the posture. I was based on the work of GetAwayTrike, with the skull taken from PIN 551-1, a large individual first described by Evgeny Maleev as "Tyrannosaurus" bataar. The anatomy of the two Mononykus has also become more accurate. The corpse of the dead animal has become more "specific" - now it is an immature hadrosaur Saurolophus angustirostris. The color of the characters in the drawing is based on the original, but with noticeable changes. I colored the work in the Krita program. It was an interesting experience.
I tried to make everything natural enough (I hope there is not too much blood to frighten someone.
), and it seems to have turned out quite well for my modest experience.
I decided to post a black-and-white and colored version at once. B/W version is submitted as separate deviation. An original, for comparison: www.deviantart.com/xiphactinusβ¦
Black ballpoint pen, black watercolor, a some whitewash and Krita, 2020.

Someone has eaten well recently. I like the colors and the design pattern on the Tarbosaurus. The small dinosaurs that came after the leftovers are a very nice touch!
