Description
I've been meaning to post these for a while. Here's something for all you Phantom of the Opera fans - two leather Phantom-style masks, the traditional white version, and a dark 'evil-twin' black mask.I never realised quite how much of a following there was for Phantom, until I joined DA.
These masks are hand-shaped, made without moulds.

Very nice I bet they look awesome when they're worn too!

They looked quite cool. My favourite was the black one. I sold them both just before Christmas, and I'm very glad they stayed together. The person who bought them decided that he couldn't have one and not the other.

It's good that they stayed together, they really wouldn't have the same effect apart. I love the soundtrack from Phantom of the Opera, but I've never been to see it

The soundtrack is lovely, I wasn't too impressed with the film of the musical though. It was very pretty, but they changed the story too much for my liking. I'm not sure if that was just the film, or if they did that in the musical as well.

I wouldn't make seeing either... hopefully there'll be a performance at the York Royal Theatre soon. I'm going to see '1984' at the end of February, but it sounds a bit obscure; ever heard of it?

I've heard of the book by George Orwell, "1984", but I haven't read it, having been put off it at school - it was one of our set books, and therefore I did my utmost to avoid reading it. ~g~

As any self respecting student should I had 'to kill a mockingbird' as one of them, which I think would have been a great book if not for my teacher reading it out slightly too enthusiatically and forcing us to analyse every line (which always ruins a good book).

It does, doesn't it?
I think we had that one as a set book too. I was probably asleep ~g~
The mad thing is that if I'd chosen to read these books for myself I probably would have enjoyed them.

Exactly, they're so much better when you read them yourself- I also had Macbeth and Romeo And Juliet, which are fantastic plays but when you have to analyse them constantly they totally lose their spirit.

It's the same with Art. Yes, there can be a lot of hidden meaning in a painting, but for most of my Art History lectures I was longing to stand up and say "You know, maybe he just painted it blue because he liked the colour. Or ran out of green."

Lol that's exactly how I feel about analysing art! And another thing is abstract art. Abstract art always gets on my nerves. I /know/ that particular red square in an otherwise blank piece of canvas just screams meaning to some people, but to me it's pointless.
"Oh look, an emotive political statement about the religious attitudes of adolescents in the 18th century!"... No, it's just a blank canvas with a yellow line across it. Ahh the things some people will pay for.

Ah, but that yellow line represents the collective subconscious of those adolescents and the artist was clearly resonating on the same wavelength when they painted this...
The interesting thing is that people _do_ pay for such rubbish, and they clearly believe that they are making a worthwhile investment, while somewhere out there the artist is churning out ten painting an hour with a paint roller, while rubbing their hands together in glee and thinking; "Aha, there goes another sucker..."
That's very cynical of me, but it's probably true in most cases. It just goes to prove that when it comes to selling your work, the right marketting could make quite a lot of difference.

I'm sure there will be people on DA who will avidly argue that abstract art is significant, but I'm more inclined to agree with the paint roller idea. Call me picky, but I like art where you can actually tell what it's supposed to represent

Thank you!
It's a fascinating fandom. Seems to be split into different factions depending on who played Erik in the various different films. It's all cool!
