I was trying something, uh...simpler *shivers* and trying to find a style (a scary, scary time indeed). What program do you have to work with? GIMP is available for free download if you don't already have it. It's like a free version of Photoshop.

Photoshop CS5 is what I use at the moment. How is GIMP different from Photoshop?

It's free, and the quality isn't quite as good as Photoshop, in my opinion. It's good if you don't have anything but MS Paint, though. You might want to look up some tutorials on how to color stuff in Photoshop. I have PS Elements and my coloring methods a little hard to explain, because I'm still playing around with how I go about making my art. This tutorial really helped me, check it out, [link]
