I have been wanting to make Saint Oniisan fanart for a while but I only got around to it now!
At first I was thinking of drawing them in the style of the manga, but I thought that using this style would be more parodical of the Jesus and Buddha roommate concept.
I need references when working in this style, but I didn't have people to model for me so I pulled out a couple pictures off Getty Images and turned them into Jesus and Buddha. HAH.
This has been one of the most brilliant and hilarious manga I have ever read, and nothing has endeared Jesus to me like this manga has! You know, if my school made me read this manga instead of forcing Church down my throat I would have been a better Catholic. ...Maybe. Nevermind, haha.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate God or Jesus. I think they're awesome! It's what some jerks have done to Christianity that I hate.

I used to be a practicing Catholic, and while I don't relate to the religion itself anymore, I still have respect for Jesus' ideologies. He was a good guy! And yes, so was Buddha

I know what you mean...reading this manga made me see my God as a real life figure, you know? I loved watching his reactions and all the situations he got stuck in, especially as a young man xD And it also endeared the Buddha to me and made me realize that both these religions have some similarities(more than people would have you think) so I think you're right, if people made good manga/cartoons/books/movies, ect like this and didn't force things on you, I think people would actually enjoy it and want to learn.

Yeah, I just know the basics of Buddhism, mostly what they taught us in school, like the paths of enlightenment, etc. etc. But yeah, I don't really remember if they mentioned vegetarianism or not

Great stuff! I think it was Gasan Jōseki, a Japanese Soto Zen master, who said upon listening to a few passages from the Gospel that they considered Jesus to be a very enlightened man and perhaps not far from Buddhahood.

It's only recent that I was able to read some scans of Saint Oniisan, and I'm glad my buddy from Manika Manila introduced me to the said manga. The plot is brilliantly heartwarming and hilarious at the same time! <3<3<3
