I have been wanting to make Saint Oniisan fanart for a while but I only got around to it now!
At first I was thinking of drawing them in the style of the manga, but I thought that using this style would be more parodical of the Jesus and Buddha roommate concept.
I need references when working in this style, but I didn't have people to model for me so I pulled out a couple pictures off Getty Images and turned them into Jesus and Buddha. HAH.
This has been one of the most brilliant and hilarious manga I have ever read, and nothing has endeared Jesus to me like this manga has! You know, if my school made me read this manga instead of forcing Church down my throat I would have been a better Catholic. ...Maybe. Nevermind, haha.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate God or Jesus. I think they're awesome! It's what some jerks have done to Christianity that I hate.

Oh my god that is AWESOME. Haven't quite heard of Saint Oniisan, but I may pay it some of my mind. And isn't Jesus technically Jewish? He couldn't eat that meat slice if it was pork then. XD

Great style, you've captured the realism and comedy. Both Budhdha and Jesus look like people, but don't look like people dressed as the B and J men. Also like the way you managed to get Jesus in the picture to be as expressive as possible pictured from behind.

Thanks! I don't take credit for their attire, though, because that's what they're usually wearing in the manga: Just plain jeans and white t-shirts with some simple text referring to something about their religious backgrounds.
And I actually used references for the faces (and other elements) for this pic as I can't do it from my head yet when working with this style, so I can't take much credit for the expressions either

Haha well at least it's not an exact copy as I copied the faces but I made up the hair, and used my own hands as the references XD

Heh, yep, if Jesus is still an observant Jew, then no pork, Buddha's in the clear. And Buddha ate whatever he was given while he was begging, veggies, meat, all OK.

Ah and the Jesus is a Jew thing seems to be sparking some debate. I mean, I don't claim to be an expert, but my understanding is, while he lived as a Jew, the religion/s that now follow his teachings are not Jewish, therefore I don't consider him to be one anymore. Because if he is, it's like saying "Oh hey, I've got these new ideas that I'd like people to follow, but I'm staying right with the old ones, kk??"
I mean, isn't he considered a false prophet in Judaism? Not so sure about that, though, but I thought I'd mention it.

I don't find it blasphemous. The premise is that Jesus and Buddha come down to live in Tokyo as roommates, and just try to live normally. It makes plenty of references to their religious background in very comedic ways.
