Here are two panels from Sonic issue 166. On the left, we see my original pencils, where Sonic is bawling over the loss of his children in the future. And on the right is the toned down version for the final product.Related content

No offense to your original drawing, but i think the toned down version is better. Sonic isn't really the crying type. I mean, it's nice to see a few tears sometimes, to show that he cares, but there IS such a thing as over-doing it. Trust me, I would know.

they didn't die, they were erased from the timeline, meaning they were never born.
but i'm just saying that Sonic isn't the crying type or the giving up type. He's in a new timeline and everything, so he knows there's still a chance to have Manik and Sonia again.
Plus...i just don't like the picture....
Don't get me wrong, i love to see a tear or two in Sonic's eyes, it seems a little too dramatic for my taste
I just don't like how Sonic was drawn as he was bawling his eyes out...

The older drawing suited it more, but I think we should all know Sonic isn't the crying type. Is Australia really called 'DownUnda' in the '30 years later' Sonic comics? I didn't read it, but someone told it to me!!

I don't care who you are Sonic or not, the emotions depicted on the left are a reality wherein the emotions on the right are simply toned down for a children's comic.
Also, can someone give me the issue numbers where this story arc began and ultimately ended? I have been completely out of the Archie STH comic loop since EnGame in the late 90's. Thanks.

I believe it was toned down probably because of Sonic's attitude, hes strong willed and rarley cries, even if he lost his kids I dont think he would be able to break down like that especialy infront of Tail's and Lara-su because he would feel weak but thats just my opinion

I honestly like the bawling better, it makes more sense then the toned down version. I mean he lost his kids, (and at the time might have lost them for good, since we didn't know the outcome at that time, and also since this was the changed future from the past comics where SOnic marries Sally and then it's all good) This is very intresting, thank you yardley

I remember seeing in some of my comics his family. It was Sally, sonic, and two children ( a boy that looks like sonic and a girl that looks like Sally )

The Names Sonia and Manik were used for Sonic's kids in the comics waaaaaay before Underground came out. So it's kinda the other way around lol.

No they weren't. Sonic Underground appeared in 1998. Mobius 25 Years Later did not appear until 2003.

Try looking through one of the very first isses of the archie comic. I'm not sure of the exact issue number but I own it and they are in there. ; )

The first issue that a version of Manik and Sonia appeared was in the
Sonic: In Your Face Special which was published in October 1994. However Manik and Sonia were not given their names until Sonic Archives #6 which was printed in October 2007. Google "Mobius Encyclopedia" and then search "Manik Acorn (Future Version)" if you want more info.

To be honest i'm not sure what you are talking about, All I know is that I own an old original comic and they were named Manik and Sonia. I'm not sure of the issue number and I can't check because i'm on vacation. But I recall the names and i'm sure it wasn't an archive.
I'll look it up, but like I said in the old comic I have that's their names. lol XD

In the comics he marries Sally. But the comics aren't really cannon so you can picture him with who you want. I personally prefer him with sally, but him and Amy have grown on me a little
