Description Yaaay, I finished ^__^ This took like, FOREVER. But I'm glad I did it, because people always ask me how I draw in Paint. Also, people complain that they only have a mouse and can't draw on the computer... well this way, it doesn't matter if you have a mouse or tablet.

Sorry for the giant size of it, and thanks to =pichu4850 for the eraser-outline tick!

If your sketch was done on paper, see this Photoshop tutorial for cleaning up the lines >> [link] << Then come back to this one!

edit: for people who don't have Photoshop: made a tutorial for doing the same thing with Gimp, here it is >> [link] <<

made a tutorial for doing the same thing with only Paint! Awesome! here it is >> [link] <<

Very nice indeed! But Microsoft Paint is not evil... it's just misunderstood.

Truly, I do almost all my stuff in Paint by choice - because I'm far too lazy to use anything else.

Your drawing is lovely, and I especially like the 'gradients.'

LONG LIVE MS PAINT!!!

hey, great tutorial, but i have one question. when you save the picture on paint, which file name do you choose? because when i take JPG the quality is bad. So i read on this page, which i lost, that you can change this, so when you save on jpg it will turn perfect. please help!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

yuliya In reply to hannamto [2006-04-16 18:01:13 +0000 UTC]

You should save it on another program, not paint. In paint, only save it as a bmp.

You there.
Okay, it says SAVE IT OFTEN.
And so I did.
AND IT BUTCHERED MY PICTURE
What do you save it as so there arent all these grey pixels around and inside my image?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

yuliya In reply to batmanterror [2006-03-06 00:54:03 +0000 UTC]

Save it as a bmp, which is the file for mspaint, so you can come back to it later. NEVER save as a gif or jpg in paint. Use photoshop. Paintshop. Email the bmp to your friend with photoshop so they can save it as a gif or jpg.. Anything. Just not MSPaint.

Kay then, I'm not sure if I have mspaint or just paint. ButI do have paintshoppro.
So how would I draw it on Paint then save it on Paintshop?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

yuliya In reply to batmanterror [2006-03-06 01:05:34 +0000 UTC]

MSpaint and paint are the same thing. MSpaint just means Microsoft paint. And there's only one kind of paint, anyways.

Just select all, copy, paste it in to paintshop, save it as a high quality file.

Thank you Thank you THANK YOU! I've always dabbled in MS Paint, and I knew about the bezier tool and all, but there is a lot that you have revealed to me that I had no idea how to do! This is much appreciated by me because I do not have PS or any really good software like that. All I have to do now is get the shading/highlighting right. THAT is the part that always kicks my arse!

Thankies again!!!!!

I have a question about this great tutorial.
first, you say there is a trick to change the colours of your lineart with the eraser tool.
you continue in the tutorial with black lineart. but then, it has a coloured lineart again!!!
S S:S
explanation, PLEASE!
HOW do you change it when you have it colored and shaded and such, and why was it black while tutorial, but came the colours back after a whole making of this pic, while you did this in a very early stage?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

yuliya In reply to tsemalon [2006-02-11 17:59:51 +0000 UTC]

Because I added step 6.5 after I finished

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tsemalon In reply to yuliya [2006-02-11 19:34:18 +0000 UTC]

so you made stap 6.5 after step 14?
that eraser trick only works when the fore ground colour is the same as the colour you want to change?
canΒ΄t remember..

Hehe, thanks. Though I tried to explain how you can do it without a tablet... most of my mspaint pics are done at school or not at home, so I usually end up using a mouse. Bezier tool really helps

Truthfully: I've done up a few pictures in Paint (Sabestet on the last part of my Gallery) and never knew about the Bezier tool. If only I had! It would've saved me hours of time

P.S: I ALSO didn't know about the outline-changing-with-the-eraser-tool either til I saw my brother do it. xD
