You can also make a capsule shape by taking a rectangle, put two half circles on either side and then following with a circle, then just cut it in half to get basically the same thing.

Oh absolutely, SU letβs you use all kinds of different approaches. has yet another way of making them. SU used to have a standard set of component that you could use (still availble in a separate download I believe), but I made my own collection of standard shapes to re-use.

I see, yea i used to have a collection of like 200 components that i re-used but now almost everything i make is from scrap. After i commented i saw the point of the tutorial, it allows for easy scaling without the frustrating "view hidden geometry" or intersecting 3 group or component planes into the places you want to get the lines.

Well, I'm open to suggestions. I made this shape a long time ago and saved it as a component, so I never had to bother with it until I started making this tut. I have the feeling tho, that it was easier in SU 6.

Well, I tried that, but then the shape is always slightly more then a half sphere and cutting away the excess is even more time consuming. Unless I did something wrong, o' course.
