[EDIT] Reminder that Swap has the same HP as Papyrus! Not Sans!
I've mentioned this somewhere before but I didnt make it clear in the comic so far ~w~;;
While everyone thought Swap had 1 HP and it would make more sense in this moment, it's not the case :'D

Well Sans already knows what happens, and he finds it hopeless to try to fight unless you do a full genocide, where the events will erase his world, Sans does care about Papyrus, he probably cares more about Papyrus than himself. Sans is more of a observer than a actor, but he will act when he knows he can do something or when he is sure he HAS to intervene, and the way he does it in the genocide route is to break your will to continue and reset or try to convince you, he knows he can never win.

Also I kinda have to mention that the comic dub on Youtube of this was the very first time I got into the Undertale Multiverse
And it was the time I was a starter fan
So I didn't know what they were talking about very well
And Sans on the second panel with his eye kind of freaked me out when I first saw it
I wasn't used to it

I didn't know who "they" was
Honestly, the very first time I heard of people calling genderless people was EITHER he or she from Little Nightmares
At first, I heard Frisk was a he
And next, I heard them as a she
And then they said "she" doesn't have a gender
I'll say now
I confirm my Frisk as a he
And my Chara as a she
Well the point from that if that I didn't know who "they" was back then
(Also fun fact: when my mom first saw game Frisk's sprite, she says they look like a he
Honestly thinking about it she's not alone.)

Everyone's bringing up the possibility of SwapPap not wanting Sans to see his stats for why he refuses the heal. Though something else that could be considered is that he feels like it would be a waste of energy for Sans to heal him and he doesn't want to drain Sans like that.
Swap already has a low self-esteem similar to San's from the inability to truly stop the human (with the possibility that his self-esteem is actually worse than San's as seems to be the popular depiction/somewhat understandable situation depending on the reason why Pap and Sans swap personalities for the most part) with the addition that he failed to reset his own timeline then failed Papyrus (in his mind). That could lead to him feeling like he doesn't deserve a heal, especially from Sans.
There might also be issues receiving touch from people. He outright flinches away from Sans when Sans tried to initiate contact to heal the wound.

Oh man, Sans was doing the bad-time eye, he was REALLY pissed.
I think Sans can see how much LV and EXP you have because he only fights you when you kill each and every monster that you can, and unless he stalked you from the beginning, including the Ruins, I'm pretty sure he knows how much EXP you have. So I thought that he might've been doing that to see Papyrus's HP, but he might just be pissed off.
So what I'm saying is, I wonder how much LV and EXP either of them have and if that's why US!Papyrus is so, "NOPE DON'T TOUCH ME WITH YOUR HEALING HANDS!" because he doesn't want Sans to see his EXP and LV.

I think it's because in swap universe Papy is the one who remembers the timelines and he knows about chara so swap papyrus knows the feeling of chara hurting his brother... Well maybe I am wrong but it's an idea

Ah, you're right; he's already reacting strongly just from seeing sans, makes sense that he'd rather avoid watching him die again.
I wonder though, is this the first run for sans? Since he doesn't seem too surprised that Pap is 'deviating from the script' - unless I'm just overestimating how much these two 'remember'

I can't help but wonder why Papyrus is flinching away in that last panel. It's not an HP problem, and I don't think green magic means anything different in his universe. I guess he could just feel nervous since Sans looked like he was about to murder someone two seconds prior, but I wonder if it's more than that?

He killed the human in his AU, so Sans will notice the extra EXP.

I agree, however I may have a little bit to add to the theory. It may be possible that papyrus' wound cannot be healed due to the fact that he traveled back in time and to a different AU. This wound may also have other affects in the future, but I'm not entirely sure he's even actually injured (HP-wise). I think this because of the fact that when he wakes up in this AU, his other injuries are completely gone. His ribcage is intact, his HP is no longer extremely low. I'm not trying to force anyone else to belive this, I just thought it was an interesting theory. ;-;

Maybe if he would let Sans heal him, he will see that he isn't his Papyrus? Or like some people said, he may not be injured (has lower HP), it can be just a scar (from when US Papyrus hit the desk) and his HP can be maxed.
