Description
[link]My last eye painting tutorial is pretty old and I've been getting e-mails about adding more detail to it.
There's like, a billion eye painting tuts out there, but I just wrote one for Painter Magazine so I thought I'd post the steps.
No words! It's pretty self explanatory.
Done in Corel Painter X (using digital airbrush) with my trusty ol' Wacom Intuos2 tablet.
Same principles apply in Photoshop too.

ok, i have a big question. I don't get how you make the basci lines so good, I mean I can't do them so good with a mouse, cuz my hand is shaking, do you use some kind of tool or... idk, I just don't get how you can make everything so precise

Since, "you use a tablet" is a little discouraging and makes it sound like you can only create nice art with the aid of a tablet... I'm going to go ahead and suggest the pen tool. It won't make things exceptionally easier but it might help with the shakey-ness (I started off on a mouse too, it can be done! )

brilliant tutorial!
I just have a question - I use Photoshop, but I was wondering, is Corel Painter better for this sort of thing? I'm thinking of buying it.
Thanks!

How do you add the detail in step 8? I can't seem to get my lines to do that.

Looking into the eye in the last frame of your tutorial, a sad-yet-inspiring thought came to my mind. "My work is still very crude. I need more practice to make refined art like this."

Thank you so much for posting this! I got a Photoshop magazine with an eye tutorial and I tried it, and it wasn't nearly as clear as your tutorial. You do beautiful work and the eye looks incredibly real, so thank you again for helping me with my first realism project that actually might work!
