Description In the wake of the Wonder Woman movie, Karen Starr is feeling envious...

To be honest it's somewhat unlikely that Powergirl will ever make a live action appearance in any DC movie or TV show, maybe the characters costume just seems to bother certain people, or someone feels she's just too similar to Supergirl. Whatever the case it's a pity since DC's premiere tsundere and cat owner would lend herself to a witty and fun action script... oh wait.. that might explain things given the general tone of DC movies .

Wally Wood struck gold with Power Girl. I have created a character named Panama Squirrel who is a Black Latina that dresses like Power Girl but without the open chest area and wears a lime green mask over her brown eyes.

I'd enjoy a live action Powergirl even in a small role. I'm tired of seeing so many Superman flicks being cranked out and the whole moping/crying/yelling Jesus thing they keep portraying in the movies (which I refuse to see) so someone at Hollywood ought to at least pitch the idea.

Heck, I'm still waiting for Carnage to make an appearance in a Spiderman show or movie. I haven't seen that lovable maniacal sociopath since the 1994 cartoon series... but noooo all we get is Venom. Just barely.

Man of Steel was good in my opinion, it felt like Superman to me.

When they get Venom right, then i think they will introduce Carnage.

Power Girl would probably make a good focus for a whole season of Supergirl using ideally the multiverse over a clone thing, but it would be great to see her in a movie for her or a suitable team though.

Well they have established the multiverse fairly clearly as a thing in the DC TV shows so that is a possibility.

.... .. ...I think I get yer point of view.. ..While I've have not been keeping track of details of what makes "DC" films different from "Marvel" films, from what I've gathered, "DC" films are a bit more darker and serious in tone(with some exceptions)and a witty and fun action script sounds right up the alley of a "Marvel" film..... .. ..probably??.. ..
"Power Girl" is quite a bit too similar to her other counter part!! When newbies ask who "Power Girl" is, I usually respond with, "It's Supergirl all grown up in an alternate Universe of Earth" Admittedly, as much as I love her, I do find her costume a bit too distracting!! xD XD
Cool Fanart, by the way!!^_^

You are correct. The first time I saw Power Girl in comic books was around 1977 and she was a member of the Justice Society Of America which I never heard of before.

Thanks

To anyone who might think that Karen would be too derivative to Supergirl really needs to reassess who Karen is meant to be as a character. I would argue the exact same thing to those who might feel unnerved by her provocative outfit as well.

I'd have it as being she just has no interest in Krypton or being in shadow of Superman, while embracing being on Earth and it's fashions ( i mean the character has had a fair few alternate costumes ).

The U S will open military bases in Panama before Power Girl makes a cartoon series as a solo act or a live action movie since the cleavage of her costume would offend the religious right.

The "religious right" would get offended? Every single criticism I've seen of PG's "boob window" costume has come from feminists who can't stand the fact that men like looking at attractive women.

Power girl is a B list hero at best and will never get into a movie. Neither will she get onto the supergirl TV show. She would out shine the curent girl of steel. as for the DCAU you can count on them messing it up and trying to be too PC. but it would be nice.

RedWingsDragon In reply to MajorO [2017-06-26 19:47:49 +0000 UTC]

You do know Ironman was B list till his movie right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MajorO In reply to RedWingsDragon [2017-06-26 21:31:27 +0000 UTC]

I disagree.. You cannot make a list of the top 6- 10 Marvel heroes and not list Ironman. He had his own book back in the 1960's and was also in the avengers. The "A" list for DC is the membership of the JLA. Powergirl isn't on it for most of the time.Β Power Girl came out in the 1970's? in a team up book of B listers. She didn't get her own book for several decades. Β She didn't come into prominence until 1985 when they killed Supergirl.

I'm not saying she didn't deserve one or that ironman is better just that he has a much longer history and bigger volume of work and name recognition. And Powergirl's boob window and top heavy physic is to politically incorrect to be accepted by some.Β

optional fan boy argument; Powergirl could take Ironman apart in a fight. No Ironman suit, no hero. not true with her.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RedWingsDragon In reply to MajorO [2017-06-27 06:01:41 +0000 UTC]

I see your point but before his movie and being portrayed by Robert Downy Jr Ironman was kind just there. Yeah he was in a ton of comic and had a huge history, but compared to say the Xmen and sipderman he was sort of small potatoes. He had his fans but he wasn't really a house hold name. Compare that to Powergirl who's never really been in a lot outside of comics and yeah Ironman is leagues above her but people didn't get excited about Tony Stark still the Ironman movie.

I hate that argument about how "boobs" or any woman that is or can potentially be considered pretty is a problem. Apparently these people don't go outside or ever spent anytime with people that aren't their own reflection.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MajorO In reply to RedWingsDragon [2017-06-27 16:44:37 +0000 UTC]

yes, Ironman is small potatoes when compared to spiderman but most comic characters are, including Powergirl. But the X men are a group not a single character.

I guess it all depends on how good the movies are. Β Fame is fleeting. Β and what is hot today may be forgotten tomorrow. Β Superman used to be the top dog but not anymore.

These PC crybabies are screwing up everything and are in for a rude surprise one of these days.

Let's hope Powergirl get's her chance at the big screen. or the little one.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

adamantis In reply to MajorO [2017-06-19 15:21:05 +0000 UTC]

Well, i never expected a character like Antman to get a movie, and it wasn't long ago that no one would have thought of the Guardians of the Galaxy getting a movie. And other B-listers like Blade or Swamp Thing have managed to get several movies, so hope springs eternal... sort of ...

I think you have a point there, she would outshine Supergirl if she was done correctly in the TV series, which leaves the animated DC, which is probably the characters best bet if they could just give her a chance.

This was more about live action but now that i think about it, she gets slightly short changed in the animated DC too, being made into an antagonist in JLU and being absent from everything else ( like Brave and the Bold or Young Justice ), with the enjoyable animated movie Public Enemies being her highest profile appearance so far.

I hope so too since four sports that I thought would never happen came true. The Boston Red Sox winning the World Series in 2004, the New Orleans Saints winning the Super Bowl in 2009, the Cleveland Cavaliers winning the NBA Finals in 2016 and the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series in 2016. I just hope that the writers of the show have her dressed in a leotard and not a bodysuit.
