XCOM 2 comes out next week so I'd thought I would revisit my first piece of fanart I did when it was annouced. Way back in June I did a small digital piece with Central Officer Bradford and me as the Commander reunited for XCOM 2.Β So here Central and I are again. I had alot of fun designing my XCOM 2 uniform.These scene was inspired by something I heard Central say in one of the preview videos. Basically without getting spoileress he cracks a joke. It made me laugh out loud when I heard it and I could imagine him saying it to the Commander to make them laugh. The Commander in this piece as you can see is looking quite amused at Central, while Central showing a wry smile looks quite proud of his quip.

Its somewhat weird to see other peoples interpretation of the commander when I already have an idea how the XCOM commander looks like. (An rugged old british veteran with grey hair, a scar going over his left eye and smoking a cigar).

That's the great thing that Firaxis has done with XCOM. The Commander can be whomever you want and never assumes anything. For me the Commander is a braver, heroic version of myself. I like acting so in games I really like taking on a role and for XCOM it's the Commander.Β
Again that's the great part of playing games like this and especially single player. You can really make the story your own.Β Someone once asked that if I wasn't playing the Commander as myself who'd I want playing it. For some reason I think of Gregory Peck.

Yeah Firaxis did a great job never assuming the gender of the player. It was one of the things that first caught my attention.

I'm impressed with your own avatar costume design it blends with the new setting, and the sunrise in the background for symbolisim (well I see it as that)
Just remember this is where the smiles end, you have a bunch of aliens who are going to make you curse, including that one from preview who is proarbarbly the same one as that...well you know, I suspect either way there's a score that needs settling.Β

I've been doing my best to dodge story spoilers and have limited myself to gameplay of like the first 2 standard missions.Β I want to experience the game on my own.Β The only cinematic I've seen was the one from Firaxicon.
The video with the "joke" actually was the Giant Bomb video with Garth D'Angelis and Mark Nauta. youtu.be/SfTl5zROy_s Β At 3:00 while Mark is talking Central can be heard faintly in the background.Β I had the volume up and heard Central pretty clearly.Β It's that comment that made me laugh.

Ah I hit some miscommunication, didn't realise the video you saw was different to the one I seen, ok I say no more and leave you to discover the rest on that. I think I might have come across Bob Hope material before, the quote rings a bell.
