XCOM 2 comes out in 1 month so I had to do some more fanart! Here's a Grenadier I hope to have during one of my first playthroughs. I am not sure if the Bio space is big enough in game, but below is her specific backstory.

Hepzibah Lawrence was a Heavy weapons specialist at XCOM during the 2015 Alien invasion. After managing to escape the assault on XCOM HQ she headed back to Canada to reunite with her family. She returned however to find her hometown leveled and her family gone. Destraught she wandered north into the Canadian wilderness where she joined a group of other survivors and refuges. There she struggled to overcome the enourmous amount of guilt and loss of both her career at XCOM and her home. It was after a freak escape from a wildfire that things began to turn around for Hepzibah. After successfully leading 3 children from the wildfire she became trapped on the wrong side of a ravine. What seemed like a certain fiery death changed abruptly when a falling burning tree knocked her clean across the ravine. To onlookers it appeared as if she had been carried across by flaming wings. She mercifully landed in the arms of the others of her group and walked away with only bruises and slightly singed hair. From that moment on she became known as "The Phoenix". Finding hope in her survival she worked to rebuild her life and do as much as could for others.

In January 2035 while scouting for supplies she came upon a small group fighting a squad of Advent soliders. She aided their victory against the Advent and was quite surprised afterwards to find them all sporting XCOM gear. She regrouped with XCOM at the new mobile XCOM base the Avenger 3 days later after saying her goodbyes to those she had been traveling with. She was delighted to see Central and agreed to rejoin XCOM as a Grenadier, hoping to fight for those she had left, her family, her hometown, XCOM, and the Commander she was about to risk her life to save.
