Description Central wasn't sure what he expected to find in the ruins of the old base, but the explosion of flora that had made Mission Control its home wasn't it. The ceiling had collapsed in, probably started by the bombs, but finished off by years of water erosion. The housing for the hologlobe was now completely filled with water with even an occasional frog swimming by.Β

If anything it reminded Central of the tenacity and resilience of nature, a lesson he would keep in mind.

Some fanart for XCOM 2. I had this idea in my head since I first saw the screenshots of the Avenger with the battered XCOM banners everywhere. I could imagine Central going back and picking them up. I thought of first of an empty base preserved as a tomb, but then something a little bit different came to mind and I thought instead of dead haunted tunnels, how about something alive and peaceful, something to give a little hope. Β In the game especially in the wilderness regions you see a lot of this. While sad to be relics of a by gone era, they're also a reminder that the best way to beat the aliens is to be like our Mother Earth. Be resilient, be persistent, keep watch until you can take root.

a story and a work of art, splendid! I love how you managed to implement your art style, while still managing to make central look on point like central should.

This, this shows why the aliens fucked with the wrong species. We are like weeds, you think you've killed us with that cheap ass weed killer. but it only made us stronger.

Vigilo Confido motherfucker.

Oh my, this looks great!! I love all the detail you put in this drawing -- from all the little particles to the leaves, water, lines on his face and clothes.. Really looks awesome!

I also love what you did with the setting, the whole 'alive' aspect to it. ^^
Finding back the old base left and destructed would, I imagine, be pretty painful.. a reminder of everything they had done to stop the enemy, and how yet they still couldn't win the war. But at the same time there's something inspiring and beautiful in what remains of that loss, because even though much was destructed and many died trying.. from what little is left, a new will persists and grows. Hope still lives, and there are now new soldiers to pick up the fight and finish it for them..
And I think it's that very hope you managed to capture here.

Great work!

Very touching, guess it does show that things do move on regardless, he seems to be handling it well, till he comes across his old sweater that is!
