Description Yeah, I entered a comic mood, recently. When I see people in the comments section say "Oh, but the games' cast has already too many characters", I can't help but cringe. The number of characters on screen doesn't matter to make an awesome story. In fact, a story with a large number of characters, if handled correctly, is bound to be awesome. For that, I'd take for example either the stories written by Ken Penders (indeed), and the Avengers movies written by Joss Whedon, especially Avengers 2: Age of Ultron. Both have a humongous cast, but every character has the spotlight once, and all of them have an awesome development. Sega simply should hire the best writer they can in order to make that work in the games. As I said in a comment on one of my previous memes, I'd really love to see a story co-written by Flynn and Penders, cause imo it just sounds perfect: epic with a great importance of the lore thanks to Penders, while the character interactions would just sound like the Adventure days thanks to Flynn. That's how a story for a future Adventure title should be written: with epicness, care for the lore, with also a large portion for character interactions and development.

Let's just hope Sega reads some random memester from DeviantArt.

Sorry but while I also thing that a huge cast isn't an issue are you comparing here Apples with Budda statues(there is a huge difference between comics and Movies and Games namely that games unlike the previously 2 mentioned games don't have just to focus one story and Characters but even above that about Gameplay) and use a part of the comics that many (My self included) just loath.

I was never put off by the cast of the comics, as that's to be expected in comics. And I never felt liek they took away form the main characters, but rather expanded on them and this world, so yeah, they were cool by me.Β

given sega got second place on both pieces of the franchise (I told Ian Flynn those will one day be nothing but trouble which yet again I was right) those being sonic boom and ultimately sonic forces yeah they might not have a choice I don't want the idw comics nor the movie to be number 3 and/or 4

there is also the fact that comics generally have really expansive casts so there's that, also I honestly don't get why people think that the Sonic games have too many characters I mean there are games with far more characters than Sonic and nobody complains like Street Fighter heck even Mario has more characters than Sonic and he's even worse at utilizing that cast.

I also want Ken Penders and Ian Flynn to collab on a Sonic comic but mainly just to see the fan reception .

They are alright. I would rather read his story, than any Gabby Rivera, Heather Antos or any Marvel comicΒ

Here's a fact, further research showed that it was Archie that started the lawsuit with Ken Penders in the first place, it ended in total failure.

Thing is, the stories Ken Penders have written have been called hot garbage by a good portion of the fanbase, so even if you like Penders' stories, you need to come up with a more favourable example.

I'm not defending Pender's shit at all, the things he's written and drawn currently are horrendous, Archie took his concepts and made them better, but they both went overboard when the lawsuit started.

I can definitely agree. Just whenever Penders himself tries to write anything himself, he ruins it. Hell, some of his characters can be stupid even on their own. Also, Ian Flynn does whatever Ken Penders tried to do much better than Ken ever could.

Well certainly, Ian Flynn has managed to impress readers years and he still can, as long he has the freedom to give the fans what they want to see and enjoy, what I was worried about him was him being forced to remove things from the comic due to Sega's new restrictions or just Archie itself.

If it's not his fault, I don't get all the sudden hate for Ian.

He was supposed to remove shit because his job was to clean up what mess Penders had made. Not to mention Chic-Ken Tenders filed a lawsuit against Archie for still owning the characters he created, leading to Archie losing the rights to Scourge, Julie-Su, Geoffrey and so on.

Also, I never knew Ian got hate...

Yeah, he did a great job at cleaning up after Ken left Archie, but even after the loss of his characters due to the lawsuit years later the changes could have stopped there, then the crossover happened, then the reboot happened and then the whole comic was shut down..

There have been occasional people that don't like him, for some reasons.

AutisTicTac In reply to Web-Disaster [2018-03-29 09:13:51 +0000 UTC]

I think they made the reboot because the mark of Len Renders still showed and they wanted to change things up from what was originally there before he left. For example, Snively was Eggman's nephew for some strange reason. They wanted to change that up dramatically, because in Sega's eyes, it sounded stupid. Ian also felt like rewriting his Genesis story arc.

Also, can you tell me what they're saying about Ian?

It kinda makes sense, but they didn't need to go too crazy with the edits, some of the changes might not even been nessessary, some of things like family members were inspired by SatAM. Ken never made Sonic and Friend's parents, the anti-characters (Moebians) or the original character designs.

They believe he lies and made up Sega's mandate, saying it's real even though the rules have been broken several times by Sega. (Mostly from the Official Sonic Twitter) They also say he's been uncaring to the fans at times.
