EDIT 7/2/18: So I just realized today that I haven't updated this thing in 4 years and a lot of stuff was inaccurate sooo update! I also removed some questions that either were not helpful or were answered within the comic itself.Now I have some big gaps on the comic/character side so if anyone has a question for that side in particular, but also ANY sections, lemme know! :END EDIT

This FAQ sheet is primarily meant to answer questions that would not come up in the comic itself, or else do but need refreshers. If a question will be answered in the comic eventually, I probably won't include it.
In regards to Ambivian antennae:
I give Ayemae big thanks with helping me figure this out! Here is the basics of how antennae work:
- In early developmental history for the species, some males developed a "masking gene" in their chromosomes that caused a lacking of antenna. These males have this mutation on their "Y" chromosome, which means it is transferred only to males. So every son of an Ambivian male that lacks antennae will also lack antennae. It's really fun! I've had several stories result from dreams, be them just ideas or actually something that got put down, but TS is my biggest one. They are so interesting and fun.

Yes, I wish there was a way to make it happen on command too. For sure I could need it, as I am in a sort of creative crisis. I always hope for some creative dreams but I rarely have dreams at all these days. However, one of my most useable ones was also one of my most recent ones.

It was about so called "Ornament Hares", which are hares with delicate markings who love statues and have a lot of them in their villages. They also maintain and decorate them very often. The Ornament Hares live together with another species which is some sort of winged anteater that lives mainly of ants and has a special "ant stomach" just for digesting ants. I plan to upload some pictures of the species and characters I make from them once they and their designs are set. In my dream, they prepared for a celebration that was quite important to them which involves playing ritual drums in fromt of a Stone temple (imagine the whole setting kind of Inka-ish). But the drums awake a third species, the so-called "Stoneheads" which are more humanlike in looks but completelyΒ bald. The playing of the drums which woke them from their slumber also disturbs and annoys them so they try to stop the celebration with their powers to control stone. So far the dream... to develop the story further is up to me.
So true... my motivation has been quite low over the past weeks, if not months. That I have so little time left does not help either. But somehow I feel that something might go this weekend... at least I plan to write something again.

So, considering the gang aren't full blooded royals, is that what their little white flower thing signified? In the earlier pages it left it a mystery but I feel that maybe that's it? Though at the same time Garin has that as well.. I'm not sure about his heritage though. I know he's mixed race (obviously!) but I know that CP is constantly changing so what I knew about him and his conception before could be totally irrelevant now xD

It had something similar to do with it, yes. Although I have been debating on taking that subplot out or leaving it. I think I'm going to leave it, though, but somehow make it more subtle since the revelation of its significance won't be shown for awhile and it's likely it'll be forgotten.
And oh yes, CP is on a rollercoaster all the time! Although Garin's conception is pretty solid. The only debatable part has been how he was conceived. In both the first draft and the current one he was the result of magic from the sorcerer, Aldink, but it's been suggested that instead of implementing magic Aldink could rape her... well, naturally. Although this would be implausible because species that different cannot crossbreed. So unless Aldink did something to his special parts (which was suggested to me) or Nelthilta is able to crossbreed because of the Calestine it wouldn't work. So for the time being "because magic" is the go-to but I'm leaving it open for alternate suggestions or ideas until I'm entirely happy with it. Sometimes you just have to wait for ideas to "click".

Ahh yes, see that's what I knew about it from your submission with the excerpt. It's definitely an interesting concept, not to mention that "because magic" is both simple AND effective! 
Also, another (really simple xD) question here. Are Kailani's ear/horn tuffs a different texture than Garin and Zamora's? Their's look really silky (taking that on from their Lanian/Lanive side I'd assume) while Kailani's looks quite 'chunkier'.. or something. Probably the Ambivian in her correct? I remember from your Lanian ref sheet part 1 thing that their silky things were supposed to be like that to aid with sound (???) but I guess since she's a cross breed that it's not as important.Β

CP is so/so. I worked on it for NaNoWrimo that one year and got over 50k words but I didn't even get to Garin being born :'D
I have nooo idea how long this story is gonna end up at this rate. It almost feels trilogy-worthy or something at this point pff
Surprisingly CP has only had 2 drafts thus far. I don't plan on redoing another version until I at least finish one. Then I can make all my changes later!
Hmm, I'm not sure. I like to think Kailani's has a similar silky texture but a little more clumped. So a sorta hybrid between the ear-horn hair of Lanives and fur. And yes they aid with sound! Kailani's hair is meant to work similarly, although her horns are more formed like ears but it wouldn't be nearly as efficient. I like to think she doesn't have the best hearing anyway.

You can! I just wish I had a proper guide up for my species... They DO have specs (what ears, tails, etc they have in Ambivians as example or horn types/colors/etc for Feddy's race and so forth) but UUUGH I can't seem to find the time! But people have done it before and whether they are inaccurate or not I still find them 100% awesome

Great FAQ with some interesting tidbits of info! I have another few questions: the civilisations on each of these planets, did they follow a similar earth-like evolutionary path (pre-history, classical, medieval, renaissance, industrial, atomic etc.) or did they pop into being fully-formed at the will of the Creator? Also, do the planets have different environments on them, or are they all one biome?Β
Also, I can understand you wanting to revamp a lot of old pages because you're unsatisfied with the art, but... artists who do this to their comics never finish them, almost universally. Not that I lack faith in your abilities at all, but I can't help but notice how long it's taken you to get this far. If it were me, I would continue the story to its conclusion before I went back and started editing. Your fans understand that stuff gets outdated as you write/draw, but I'm willing to bet a lot of us just want to see the story continue (especially with a helpful FAQ like this to read if some things aren't properly explained yet)!

They definitely evolved through stages until they became what they are today~ Each planet's evolutionary and developmental path differed but they did start primitive and eventually become to what they currently are. c: And oh yes vastly different biomes! Ambivia has a lot of fields and hills and is pretty warm, Duganist is very marshy, and Xanetean has a lot water on its surface and is ridiculously humid. The other planets vary as well and of course on the planets themselves they differ, but that's some of the common biomes there.
Oh I'm well aware of all of that. I actually expressed my concerns in a recent journal entry all about it. Just to clarify, I absolutely do NOT care that my art is bad - I actually love all my old pages because I think they're funny and well done in their own right and the art really isn't that bad in my opinion. So my desire to revamp it has NOTHING to do with art, it has to do with the STORY, mostly the introduction. It is incredibly weak, inaccurate, and confusing. I feel that, because it falls so flat, later developments will be hindered by it. In my latest journal entry I explain everything, from why it took so long to what my plans are for avoiding the pit of destruction so many comics fall into. And in the end, it's up to me. If I'm unhappy with it, I'm not going to put up with it. And I'm VERY unhappy with it currently.
BUT! On the bright side, I will in no way stop the progression of the story for these rewrites (I want to get somewhere with this!!) and the revamp will only alter pages 1-20ish (plus a new prologue). So it won't be a large overhaul. Thank goodness! Cause I don't want to mess with a massive one - I couldn't do it! I'm making sure I have all my ducks in a row before I ultimately take on the challenge as well...

I just read your journal and I think it could work, as long as you can sketch them out fairly quickly. The trick is not so much retaining the readers' interest, but retaining your own interest. I know how boring it can be going over parts of a story you've already told, even to the point of killing your interest in the subject matter entirely. That's the pitfall you have to avoid.Β
Keep at it! I want to see where this story goes! I might even draw some fan art if I can think of anything to draw... On a related note, are there any deserts on your planets?Β

There weren't too many wars between planets, most conflicts came within countries on single planets. The biggest war occurs in another one of my stories between Ambivia and the Lanians (prior to them inhabiting Duganist - they traveled into this system from another planet). They had a war that lasted several years.
That's quite true there! I'm HOPING that since this revamp is considerably different from the original it'll be a bit more interesting for me since I'm not 100% rehashing the pages panel-for-panel. This isn't the first time I've tried redoing a comic. My first attempt ended in a failure because the story unraveled into a hot mess. I was new at webcomics at the time so it was a learning experience and didn't surprise me much. I only got to page 6 (or 7?) before calling it quits (although I had sketched something like 15 pages total offline). I revamped that story three times but the other attempts never were posted (except a set I posted after the fact for giggles). So I'm trying to take all the mistakes I made with that one and avoid them for this time.
I'll keep giving it a shot! It's been hard to keep consistently updated with school and other projects weighing down but I always have it in my mind!
And yup! Ambivia has a couple deserts on its continents and IlliΓ‘nic has a good number of them too. There's also the "main world" in the system which is a massive planet and it has every biome and environment imaginable

Ah that's pretty cool. I imagine it was quite the experience for each species when they finally came in contact with each other. After all, they would be aliens to one another, right? Do countries still exist on each planet, or are they run by a global government now?Β
Yes it's sadly a fate I've seen befall many (if not most) comics on DA. It's a real shame, especially when the comic is promising. Yours is pretty unique, which is why I took the time to read it in the first place. It kind of reminds me of Beauty and the Beast, which is another story I love. Anyway, I know how hard it is to keep up with any kind of project when life is breathing down your neck. You know what always helps me? Looking at other people's work. When I'm reading a really good book there's this constant nagging feeling in the back of my mind that says 'Yours will never be this good unless you get back to it, you lazy bum!', and then I usually apply the lessons I learn reading that book to my own. That or listening to music that reminds you of your story... That always gives me a kick up the backside to get back to work.Β

And yup they have countries! They have an overall "queen" figurehead who kinda rules the whole planet in a sense, but really she only controls her country/land (which conveniently is the largest span over several continents). For other countries with their own governments she merely assists them but doesn't have as much responsibility over them.
I can't even count all the comics that failed to develop past a number of pages (usually it's less than 10). I run the Group and we have a loooot of comics ranging from animal to human to alien and fancomics and it's ridiculously common to see a comic run for awhile then disappear after a year. We also have a lot of comics that are still alive but update super sparingly. And also a lot that make it incredibly far, over 100 pages even, and they disappear. I know my favorite comic (off dA) lasted for years before the artist ultimately had no inspiration for it any longer and quit. And jeez... that comic had hundreds of pages. So there's really no telling when a comic will end and redoing old pages or not sometimes doesn't even factor in. But overall most of the comics on dA that try to revamp stumble and burn pretty quickly, usually just within a year of their starting makeover.
Anyway, that rambling aside, I do the same thing! Cept mine does somewhat oppositely - I look at others comics and usually find every single flaw in them. I don't have many favorite comics anymore or inspirational comics (story-wise at least. There's plenty with good art) that motivate me. So usually I take all their existing errors and decide not to do it in my own. So it works but it's just kinda sad. Now books... usually those inspire my written works, not my comics haha But music! Yes! Always music~
