EDIT 7/2/18: So I just realized today that I haven't updated this thing in 4 years and a lot of stuff was inaccurate sooo update! I also removed some questions that either were not helpful or were answered within the comic itself.Now I have some big gaps on the comic/character side so if anyone has a question for that side in particular, but also ANY sections, lemme know! :END EDIT

This FAQ sheet is primarily meant to answer questions that would not come up in the comic itself, or else do but need refreshers. If a question will be answered in the comic eventually, I probably won't include it.
In regards to Ambivian antennae:
I give Ayemae big thanks with helping me figure this out! Here is the basics of how antennae work:
- In early developmental history for the species, some males developed a "masking gene" in their chromosomes that caused a lacking of antenna. These males have this mutation on their "Y" chromosome, which means it is transferred only to males. So every son of an Ambivian male that lacks antennae will also lack antennae. Just popping in to say I recently read through the comic, after having one of the pages appear in AlienAllience. The story has intrigued me, and I look forward to future pages!
Questions, hmm? Well, you mention that Federico was ill during the time of the prologue, and I am rather curious as to that - after all, you likely wouldn't have included it if it doesn't become important... However, I suppose answers to that will come in story. xD So, a different question; what was the goal of the selection?

Indeed, Federico had an illness, along with issues with his Gigantism, that much I can tell you. The rest will be revealed at some point or another so don't fret about that~
As for the goal, it will also be revealed but I'm not positive when. What I can tell you currently is it was devised by the elders in order to preserve the bloodlines and marriage of Royals. It's a bit more complicated than that, but that's something to start off on. xD

I don't think anyone's asked these questions, but
1) This is more of a statement than a question, but I've noticed that despite their mutual...hybridness, Kaikai, Garin, and Zamora each look rather different. Is it just individual traits, or something in the genetics?
2) Can Ambivians be any color in any combination? (I'm judging from Nelthilta here)
3) Back when Jacky said "After what happened with the princess" I was puzzled, because in the chapter of CP I read, Nelthy was magic-raped. Wouldn't that just make Ambivians more mad? Or did I miss something? I'm missing something, aren't I.

1.) Yeah, it depends on their genetics. Some Lanivians may take more after the Ambivian traits than the Lanive ones. Kailani is fully furred and has more or less Ambivian anatomy, while Garin and Zamora are move Lanive.
2.) Royals can be, to a degree. Their base color is almost always (with some exceptions like, say, Tanner) a natural coat color: brown, black, white, etc. Their markings can be more extravagant colors like Nelthilta's (orange and purple). Their tails, on the other hand, differ in color and can be a vast spectrum as their tail colors are sort of their "trademark". Nothing neon blinding, of course.
3.) Yeah, that scene is to be edited out entirely in the updated version. It's fine if it makes no sense, I doubt anyone will get it aside from me xD (big comic mistake fail hurr)

What ARE Ambivians? Are they Felines? Rabbits? A Mix?

That's a good question, actually! They are an alien race, of course, but that originated as a feline-type creature. Though they are not specifically anything. Some favor cats, some favor foxes, others favor rabbits, and even others kangaroo-looking things in appearance but are all one single race. It varies. xD

I have another question(or two).
What if a selectee was to be related to thier mate (if it's even possible)? Maybe not-so-distant cousins. Would they have to forget about the selection and just go on with thier life, or would they be given to those unable to participate? Or would they go on and mate, making lots of inbred babies.
And, what happens when a selectee is injured severly (losing an arm, leg, eye, etc.) or has a fatal diesease? Would they still be in the selection?

It would be pretty much impossible. They have records for every child and their family trees (even the "classified sector" children, as that information is simply not open for public view but is still known to the staff). Royal selectors going into the Selection also have records and family trees. So the chances of somehow getting caught within that stream would be difficult. Though I suppose if a record was incorrect or something it could slip up, in which case they wouldn't end up knowing, but that would be a low chance.
If the selectee is injured in the case of losing a body part of some kind then that would be no excuse to drop out, but if it was a fatal illness in which they have a certain lifespan left, it would probably be discussed with the Selector prior to getting together and they would decide whether or not to be mates anyway or to drop out.

I figured they traveled at least in their solar system. Do they ever travel out of it? On another note what would happen if a selected got themselves pregnant before they met their mate?

Yeah, sometimes. Like if they are traveling to another planet in their system. Usually they stick around, though, as traveling to planets outside of their little cluster system takes longer and is rather stressful.

Um. Depends, really. One or two options would happen: the child would be taken away after birth or the pregnancy would be, unfortunately, terminated. If, say, someone got pregnant a year before they met their mates they would probably go with the first option and give the child away, but if they were still pregnant, say only a couple months before meeting their mates it would go to option two. Mostly because it would not be very fitting in their standards for the selectee to be impregnated by another male that is not of the selected, even if that means sacrificing the unborn's life.
The selectees sort of have this "responsibility" to take their future mate into consideration and not get into that circumstance so if they did fail to do that they would rightfully be punished and there would be little chance they would keep the child or even be able to see them again.

What would happen if the selector and the selected mate were to have different sexual orientations by the time of the selection? I mean do they just forget the whole arranged marriage and go about their seperate ways, or will the selected mate still be forced to stay with the royal?

Anyway, very good question! Hmm... I've never really thought about that circumstance exactly. I've thought before that if a Royal was not heterosexual that they wouldn't be allowed to enter the Selection in the first place because they cannot determine which children will end up being homosexual. But as far as them changing orientation during the 15 year wait... dang, I'll have to think about that one!
