The way I figure, even if people don't end up making them this way, they'd pick up a thing or two along the way. You're most welcome!

WOW! Thank you so much! Hitting the workbench immediately (well, as soon as I find my 26g wire). This is a great tutorial. Thanks again.

haha, I worried it was too rambling, and skipping certain important bits... but like I said, it does require prior experience with certain techniques - which I suppose you have!

Well, you don't need 26ga per se, although it is quite the best. 24ga is frankly much stronger if you can knit with it; some patterns would require it, even. 28ga is also possible, but you have to be quite careful.

And you're most welcome!

I think it's okay that you skipped certain bits. It's too advanced for beginners anyway, if they can't tell what you skipped, they probably shouldn't attempt anyway! found my 26g silver, now to find a cab to use....can't wait to try this.

I was thinking along the same lines, yes, hence my clarification in the beginning, of the assumption of some advanced ability.

oh wow, you're going to do this in Silver. XD The main reason why I've avoided silver and gold-fill so far is because the heavier gauges that I like are so prohibitive. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

your explaining is amazing!!!
too bad here where I live itΒ΄s too hard to get any wire that isnΒ΄t pure silver, and that is too expensive to practice...
But if I find a way to get in my hands other kind of wire and the tools you can bet IΒ΄ll try ^w^
My dad used to do jewelry, so IΒ΄m quite used to wires, still have to practice though, there has been a lot of time since I grabbed some wires and stones.

Maybe try aluminum? It's still hypoallergenic, and it is much cheaper. A good source is firemountaingems.com. I am actually just about to try it with aluminum. It might take some modifications and more hammering, though.

mm, it's unfortunate that you can't get supplies easily; I agree that silver is far too expensive for learning this particular wrap.

hmm. I think some places online sell silver-filled nowadays? That might not be TOO bad. Anyway I calculate that for this locket, I used less than 2yrds of 26ga, 1/2yrd 22ga, 1/2ft 20ga, 1ft 16 + 14ga! That's not that much!

So... the tutorial is not difficult to understand, then? That makes me happy.
