Description
So here's how I made the hand for all those who asked. And here's the finished product in motion
[link]
mistake caught! it's actually 52 eye bolts!
edit*
and for all those who will or have asked. It cost me under $50 Canadian to build. I don't know what it would cost in American as I don't live there, have the same stores, or really care. but you can just use google to convert the currency and give yourself a ballpark figure.

I would've never thought to use any of those items (bbq fork. lol). But then again, I can't free-style this sorta thing. Awesome tutorial.

Hey, just wondering, do the washers in the gloves ever...slip? And you're not really pulling on the strings that much (and my hands kind of small). Will the fingers still close completely?

nope, haven't had any problems. you can see how much the fingers move in the video

Mmm, me likey, me likey! I've been wanting to do something like this for a while. I tried it with paper towel tubes, but they were so flimsy.

That's awesome. I just wanted to know how long are the hinges coz I guess it must be quite small to fit in the BBQ handle.

This would make an exelent skeletal-hand too, especially since you can make the handpalm all bone-like

Hey, I have a question. What are the BBQ forks handles made of? Cause I doubt I'll be able to find such forks here so maybe I could just mimic it ^^

This is too awesome for words!
My mate and i plan to build one for each hand!
Oh and if we could have your permission, may we work on a pair of legs/feet to go with that hand based on your design?

Oh wow <3~
I made this myself at home following the tutorial, and it works perfectly! Though, what I did instead of leaving the inside of the wood bare is I took some bronzeish coloured grip pads (You know, the ones for cell phones in cars and things like that) And cut them out for grips on the inside. I took what i had leftover of the steel plating for the outside of the fingers and made a casing around the inside (A really small one, so i could still close the 'hand' ) and attached the grips with an epoxy (Don't use gurilla glue... It doesn't work at all for any kind of metal) so i can grip things without messing with the eye bolts or the strings. The only bad thing about the gel grips is that it kind of ruins the steampunk idea of using nothing plastic or new-age =/ But at least it's bronze!
Overall, this tutorial:
A Definite DIY epic win~ <3
