Entry:
Vampales are known for the characteristic spears they use in battle, crafted from sharp thorns from trees near their nests. They impale their victims with it, leaving them agonizing while they drink their fluids. They are brutal pokémon, and for that they are deeply despised, having been subjects of legends for centuries. But even so, in the eyes of the little Vampinches whom they protect, they are adored as gallant heroes.

Once again the exact kind of stuff we would never see in an actual Pokémon game, but... That's the fun of it! If you guys think that spear is way too creepy or inappropriate, just say the word and I'll change it! No prob!
This week's fakemon is the evolution of Vampinch, which I posted last week. While Vampinch was based on the Vampire Finch and on plain old vampires, its evolution is fittingly based on Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure famously (or infamously) known for being the inspiration for the character of Count Dracula, and on the real bird, the Shrike. What's a Shrike, you say? Well, I'll just give you a picture and let Wikipedia talk for myself: [image- not for the very squeamish i guess]

"Shrikes are known for their habit of catching insects and small vertebrates and impaling their bodies on thorns, the spikes on barbed-wire fences, or any available sharp point. This helps them to tear the flesh into smaller, more conveniently-sized fragments, and serves as a cache so that the shrike can return to the uneaten portions at a later time."

"The family name (...) is derived from the Latin word for "butcher", and some shrikes are also known as "butcher birds" because of their feeding habits."

So it's a creepy bloody bird evolving into an even creepier and bloodier bird. How lovely. The little spheres on it's spear are supposed to be skewered berries, so maybe it's not covered in blood, but actually berry pulp?......Of course not, that's totally blood.
Vampales are perfect evil team admin Pokémon, and vampire legends are born from the fear people have of it, but, maybe they're just exaggerations. While Vlad the Impaler is regarded almost universally as a bloodthirsty tyrant, he's actually regarded as a national hero of sorts for a part of the Romanian people, who seems him as a necessary evil for it's time and actually just as a lawful and noble king with some extreme means for executing his justice. The same could be applied to Vample. They are known for protecting others of it's kind, so for them and also some trainers out there, he's just some kind of dark hero.
