A massive winged species of kaiju described as one of the few "neo-pterosaurs" to have been documented by Monarch, Rodan is an intriguing species. One of the earliest discovered species of kaiju in the modern era, Rodan was discovered in the events leading up to what would be the "Red Skies Incident" as two of these "Titanus Ladon" specimens were discovered laying dormant beneath Mt. Aso, leading towards the mated pair awakening and attacking Sasebo, Kawata and Fukuoka. While both Rodans would perish in a final assault by the JSDF at Mt. Aso, this was not the end of Rodan however.

After Godzilla return's was confirmed off the coast of Japan, Monarch Outpost 56 would enter red alert as the increase in Mt. Aso's activity came to a head as from the volcano's crater, a cloud of gas would explode to reveal a massive winged form. to which Rodan had arose from the ashes, like a phoenix arising from the flames, the massive pterosaur would spread it's wings in a mighty display, exhibiting strange behavior as it emerged from Monarch Outpost 56 before taking to the skies, numerous witnesses seeing Rodan's crimson form vanish in the clouds. Monarch forces would eventually have determined that Rodan was on a direct convergence point with Godzilla, their confrontation inevitable.

It would be several hours before Godzilla would begin his counterattack after decades of inactivity, the naval blockade failed as battleships sank into the waters of Tokyo Bay behind him. With military artillery only enraging the King of Monsters, he made short work in eliminating the human resistance against him. It is however only after he decimated, that he'd be confronted with the arrival of Rodan in the form of an ambush, with the massive pterosaur attacking Godzilla from the sky. Rodan fought furiously with everything he got but this proved to only enrage Godzilla further. With Godzilla proving to be a ruthless, formidable opponent, he would throughly beat Rodan into submission, to which the latter would turn and flee into the skies. Following this encounter, Godzilla too would leave, vanishing into Tokyo Bay, leaving behind a good portion of the city as an ocean of flames and rubble, before vanishing.

With the return of the King of The Monsters, followed by the events of "The Battle of Tokyo" resulting in millions of dollars in property damage, thousands of casualties and the city rendered to rubble, there would be further concern as numerous species previously classified as scavengers in Monarch's database were becoming more aggressive for unknown reasons...

Capable of terrestrial combat similar to that seen in Vultures.
