Gorosaurus or "Gwangi" as the Iwi call them are the modern day descendants of the Allosaurus that survived the K–T extinction by taking refuge in The Hollow Earth. Over the past 65 million years, they evolved further, becoming more upright to adopt a tail-dragging appearance, armored osteoderms on their backs, and a sharpened scale on the tip of their tails. Gorosaurus and the other surviving neo-dinosaurs lived on isolated islands in the Indian Ocean, such as Skull Island and Mondo Island. The crew of the Venture even reported that Kong battled a Gorosaurus in 1933 [Though other accounts state it was the Vastatosaurus]. Research showed that the two species were natural enemies, the two most often attacking each other on sight.
When Skull Island sank into the sea in 1948, it would later be discovered that in 1962, that the prehistoric beast also resided on was Mondo Island, the neighboring island. There it was theorized that those who resided on this island rapidly evolved and grew to enormous size, adapting to the well of radiation that was The Hollow Earth as the specimens observed on Mondo Island were much larger. They also gained the ability to absorb radiation, making them true Kaiju. Before, Gorosaurus were 7.62-9.14 metres tall and weighed 12 tonnes, but now are 100 metres long and can rear their heads eighty-five metres high.
In the current day, prior to King Kong's most recent scuffle with one of the massive theropods, the individual he took on was noted acting erratically, as if searching for something in the area, It as only until the two encountered one another that this behavior ceased. Even as Kong had left the seemingly abandoned den with a massive egg, the other Gorosaurus in the area were noted to be behaving erratic, to which they've become more active since Kong had unearthed the massive egg, often displaying almost a behavior as if they're searching for something. It did raise questions as it did indicate that possibly they sensed the eggs frequencies and were attempting to retrieve it. This would come to a head when one of the larger Gorosaurus specimens had invaded the highlands, charging into the troop's den. This would not end well however as the other Kongs, alongside King Kong would successfully beat the massive saurian to a pulp, forcing it to retreat. Though not without a price as the egg would be damaged in the conflict, earning a large hairline fracture across its shell.
Following this encounter, the egg has also been observed undergoing a new phase in activity as radio interference from the egg has gradually increased with the troop safe-guarding it in their territory, as well as the presence of the egg occasionally emitting a red glow whenever left alone. In response, Dr. Darrow had requested for Vivienne Graham, one of Monarch's leading heads in the paleo-biology department to observe the egg and assist in the overall investigation of hypothesizing what it could be.
Documented Attributes:
Surprisingly inquisitive. Capable of employing strategy into it's hunting methods, making it an extremely dangerous hunter.
The Gorosaurus is one of the top predators on Mondo Island, making him one of the most dangerous species of megafauna on Mondo Island.
Directly competes against Vastatosaurus and the Halakrah as top predator.
High Durability, Agility and Stamina, allowing for Gorosaurus to be quite fast, and capable of leaping extraordinary heights.
Capable of utilizing a Kangaroo-Kick in combat. Monarch paleo-biologists suggest that this ability was gained through the Gorosaurus' time spent evolving in the Hollow Earth
Keeps some of the more prominent species like Kamacuras and Mondo Serpents in check.
Typically feeds on the Sker Buffalo and Ligocristus.
Fascinatingly enough, Gorosaurus' species is the only species documented to directly feed on the Halakrah
Capable of burrowing deep within the Earth, using it's pointed head to help dig.
Gorosaurus also possesses a prehensile tail, with a serrated spike on the tip, utilizing this as one of it's more dangerous weapons.
Despite being a common species among other islands and isolated regions, the Gorosaurus on Mondo Island are unique in their specific rivalry with Kong.
