Personality: Prima was the archetypal hero, a warrior made closest to Primus's own type and intents, focused on the greater good. Such people can be dull, but Prima was clever and unselfish with a strong sense of self-awareness, so that even as he remained true to his principles, he was always able to stay one step away from pomposity. He cared for all of his siblings and followers in Crystal City, like he was the eldest brother in a large and unruly family, taking too much upon his shoulders perhaps. Like his creator Primus, Prima was convinced he was both right and in the right all the time, which made him a frustrating person to deal with on occasion, but stood him in good stead when it came to a fight. He tended to clash with Megatronus Prime, who served as his opposite among the Thirteen, a warrior of darkness who represented a natural counterbalance to Prima's role as the warrior of light.
Weaponry/Equipment:
- Star Saber: Said to be forged by Solus Prime from the core of a star, the Star Saber was a weapon unlike any other. The sword is powered by the Origin Matrix, which is believed to be a duplicate of the original Creation Matrix of Leadership. Like Alpha Trion's artifact, the Quill, the Star Saber's form is symbolic of its power rather than the actual full limit of it. Its edge is powerful enough to sunder mountains, crumble the stuff of planets, snuff out stars, and, if the wielder uses it with the best accuracy, can cut between atoms.
Abilities:
- Photokinesis: Prima had the power to create, shape, and manipulate light energy that can be used offensively, usually drawing it from interdimensional or other similar sources. He could also channel large amounts of light energy through the Star Saber, strengthening its powers and sharpness.
Weaknesses: Despite being the the greatest among the Thirteen, Prima had his flaws. He was a prideful warrior who believed that he was just and always in the right. This would even lead him to suspect his siblings of plotting against him, which made him a frustrating person for them to deal with.
Bio: Created by the AllSpark through the will of Primus 10 billion years ago, Prima was the First Prime and first of the Cybertronian race. Within his chassis, rested the Creation Matrix of Leadership, a talisman of great power that reflected his own might. He and the rest of the Thirteen gathered the first generation of Cybertronians to Cybertron's northwestern hemisphere, where they forged a shining fortress dubbed "Crystal City" to commemorate their creator god Primus. From Crystal City, Prima and his siblings ruled prehistoric Cybertron.
After Unicron escaped from Cybertron's core and retreated to the dark depths of space to plot his revenge against Primus, Prima and the other Primes were tasked by Primus to train the planet's civilian population to prepare for the coming battle against the Chaos-Bringer. The Cybertronian civilians that they trained would be forever known as the Knights of Cybertron.
During the Unicron Battles, Prima lost his grip upon his Star Saber when the Chaos Bringer assaulted the group with torturous visions. Although the Thirteen were able to defeat Unicron with the Creation Matrix soon thereafter, they did not manage to do so before he had seized the convulsing Prima, put him in his mouth, bitten down, and spat his crushed body out. Thankfully, Prima survived the experience as Quintus Prime would use his artifact, the Emberstone, to heal him.
Despite defeating Unicron, the Chaos-Bringer infected each of the Thirteen with a touch of his darkness, Prima included. Prima worked primarily with Vector Prime and A-3 (better known in the modern day as Alpha Trion), but their clique was treated with some degree of resentment by some of their siblings, as it was thought they were trying to control the actions of the others. Prima continued to grow even more detached as they continued their work, spending his time theorizing about the nature of the Thirteen, and categorizing them; he considered himself, Vector, and A-3 to be forces of lawful good, but looked down the latter Primes (excluding The Arisen)-chiefly Megatronus Prime and Liege Maximo-as chaotic and potentially evil beings.
Approximately 2 billion years ago, Prima oversaw a mission of colonization to expand the Pax Cybertronia, sending fleets of Titans to distant worlds such as Caminus, Devisiun, Prion, Arduria, Carcer, Junkion, Lithone, Gigantion, and Quintessa, cyberforming them with the power of the Omega Lock and killing off their original organic inhabitants. They also attempted to colonize Antilla, but they forced to retreat after the native Antillans managed to kill Amalgamous Prime. Despite his claims that the Cybertronians had only sought to bring the "light" of their perfect civilization to the galaxy, the colonialist ambitions of Cybertron were laid bare, and as a result Cybertron came to be shunned and hated by the inhabitants of the galaxy. Realizing that their actions to "enlighten the lesser races of the universe" have only brought nothing but pain and sorrow, Prima planed to make peace arrangements with any alien races negatively affected by the Cybertronians's colonization efforts. However, Megatronus Prime and Liege Maximo believed that all other lifeforms, which he saw as potential enemies of Cybertron, must be exterminated to preserve their prosperity. Their act of defiance would spark the First Cybertronian Civil War. Later on, during the war, while Megatronus managed to flee, Prima surmised Liege Maximo who was eventually exiled aboard his Titan Vigilem.
Aboard his Titan Emissary, Prima led Vector Prime, A-3, Micronus Prime, Alchemist Prime, Nexus Prime, Quintus Prime, The Arisen, the Knights of Cybertron, and the Protectobots to hunt down Megatronus Prime and his Terrorcon army, and bring him to justice. They eventually tracked him down to the third planet of a uncharted solar system that would be known in the far future as Earth. When Prima found his adversary, Megatronus promptly seized the Star Saber and turned it back on its wielder, stabbing him in his spark chamber. Right before his final breath, Prima passed the Creation Matrix down to The Arisen, who then used its full power to banish Megatronus in eternal limbo within his sarcophagus.
The loss of his master caused Emissary to become distraught. After returning the others to Cybertron, Emissary interred Prima's remains within himself and set off for deep space, eventually settling on a jungle planet that would known as the Cybertronian colony of Mons Prima. Mons Prima's inhabitants worshipped Prima and other heroes of ancient Cybertron, with the colony becoming home of many powerful warriors. Mons Prima would lose contact with Cybertron and the inner colonies during the Rust Plague after Guardian Prime ordered the destruction of the Space Bridge Network. The colony wouldn't be rediscovered until around 4 million years ago, Optimus Prime's and Megatron's respective teams (Team Prime and Team Kaon) landed on the planet for a supply run during their search for the AllSpark. Emissary and a majority of the colonists would form an alliance with the Autobot Commonwealth, but several Mons Primans, including Scrash and the Predators, defect to the Decepticons.
Before the Third Cybertronian Civil War, statues of Prima wielding his sword oversaw the Senate chamber within the Grand Imperium, the Functionist High Council Pavilions, and the Primal Basilica. Cybertronian religious groups like the Matrix Templars and the Way of Flame were also known to swear by Prima's name.
Those descended from Prima are usually bots with above average size, combining great physical strength with intellectual prowess and agility. Their alt-modes tend to be sturdy, well-armored, and yet still fast. They were once called "Knights" due to their associations with the Knights of Cybertron, with many members sharing a high degree of attributes with Prima, but are now more commonly referred to as "Juggernauts" due their alt-mode preference. Nova Prime is believed to be a direct descendant of Prima.
