Rambi is *zambi 's original character
she was nice enough to let me draw her and use her in a tutorial
( thank you stinklady -3:I )
well, I decided to create a tutorial on lineart separation
this should help everyone having trouble with their lineart,
and help those with a desire to understand advanced setup
sorry it's so very technical, and not very fun, but it's MUCH too important to overlook!
so enjoy ^^
//* EDIT
for those of you that know the Desaturation trick and want to use it instead for Step1, feel free. But there IS a difference between desaturating an image and converting it to grayscale. Look closely at this image ( [link] ), and you'll see that the grayscaled version is lighter than the desaturated version. What difference does this make? Hell if I know

Adobe Photoshop Elements v. 2.0 (It came with my tablet.)
I word searched "channels" in the help section and all I found was this weird refill thing that wouldn't work. xp Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also thank you thank you for replying.

hmm could be o_O thats pretty lazy of them tho XP
this method is pretty good for colouring the lines in a specific colour (i could only do that with digital lines before )
now it works with hand inked lines too woot XP

alright... So... :3 I'll try it as soon as I'll have the chance.. since when I work with lyers.. I only change the curves options or w/e
And the channels ...are.. *blank stare* sth.. like o.O for me XD
So alright.. ^^
So pratically what you did was to make the lineart clean and then select all the lines.. (sth with the channels here..)..
And then just filled the floating selection with color.
I'll try

okay, can i ask you a question? what do you do if when you do the selection thing and you click okay it says "Warning: No pixels have been chosen." ? because i've tried to do this like three times and it does that everytime. i'd appreciate your help. ^.^;

augustc4 In reply to raininkitten [2006-01-16 04:29:06 +0000 UTC]
the channel you're selecting probably has no information in it. that means something went wrong in step F i believe. Are you sure you pasted into that channel properly?

I do a method similar to this, but wow, this is so much more detailed! Thank you! Got a silly question, In step one, instead of changing to grayscale, cant you just desaturate the image? Just a thought Thank you again!

thanks for making this. I won't use it just yet..I am still new to using the pen tool. I like it right now cause it's a slight bit more flexible I can add or fix things to the lineart. ^_^ But that's me. I really liked the commentary throughout however..highly amusing.

I got it but sheesh!
What a lotta work I actually found a quicker way that looks cleaner...and is fewer steps.
I get confused when people write "Controle C" it must be different on some computers or some thing.
