I've gotten a lot of questions these past few weeks about what exactly does a "storyboard artist" in tv animation actually do.Well in short, we translate the script to what you see on screen. This encompasses everything from staging the characters and BG into compositions, acting, camera movement, lighting, fight choreography, etc.
I hope this clears it up.
If you ever want to learn how to do this, I teach this and more over at the Concept Design Academy in Pasadena every semester. (Shameless plug, I know....)

I have had to do this For theSutralian version of Collage (Called TAFE).I Love Toon Boom Animate and I must admit its a good program to use. Pitty we had to draw the Story bored on Paper, I kept loosing the damn shit D:
But I really liked this movie! I liked most of the DC animated movies that have been realsed over the last 4 years

My kids and I have been watching that damn near non-stop over the last few weeks. You did a damn fine job! How much research did you do into Pankration to form Wonder Woman's fighting style? Because damn!

I try to do as much research for the different fighting styles as I can. Then I isolate certain moves and see if those moves will fit into the 'flow" of a fight. Most writers will only give a general outline for a fight (what kind of happens and where the characters end up) but it's up to the storyboard artist to flesh out the sequence.
In this case, I wanted Wonder Woman's fighting style to clearly be different than the other JL members and still have the grace of a dance.

Storyboards at most studios are still done on paper but the advantages of digital storyboarding outweigh the disadvantages IMHO.
I like to keep all of my storyboards but after 15 years, I've totally run out of space so the transition to Digital boards allows me to always have the most cleanest copy of my work without the hassle for trying to scan a 400 page storyboard every month.
I don't want to ever go back to paper. If I want a paper board then I can always print out a near perfect copy anytime.
