oh...wow...its a 3d image....i...i thought it was a pic...wow, your amazing! i saw it and thought it was the most beautiful katana i had ever seen and then i find out to my dissapointment it isnt real, but also to my amazment that its a work of art, its so unbelievably real! its incredible! i had every intention of favoriting this to beginwith but now i have to savor it and watch you as well. i thank you for making something so gorgious!i love this.

I was just thinking the "bumps" on real same looks more like separated, round knobs (think plucked chicken) than scales.
I might be wrong though.

u are correcet, they usely are kinda round knobs, but i wanted to put some original details anywere i could , so... came out scales.

the only thing that gives away taht its renered is taht teh top part of the sheath is too round and too soft,
couldnt possibly be that perfect in RL

u are totaly right, and actualy the sheath in this image is a older version (as i fixed the sheath, but i loved this render, so i just let it go)

i stumbled across this piece just browsing favs. I have to say it made it into my favs also. massive props to you. this is incredibly beautiful and so insanly well executed. i love martial arts weapons, and you surely made this one come to life. run with your tallents and go far. very very nice. 2

+Fav, only things that bothers me is tsuba, maybe its just illusion, but it seems to be asymmetrically, maybe its that not symmetric design what is deciving my eyes. More rectangular would be better imo. And that sharpening line, they usually are beautifully curved line, with no random stuff ^^ nevertheless: awesome work

the biggest problem is that all made from Image refrenecs for internet.... to get the purest result i sould have got a real Blade and hold it and study
it... but it didnt got one, so i needed to guess from images most of the stuff.

what do you mean in how did i textured it.... Textured in maya, all my own made shaders (actually that was the hardest part, texturing this piece to work
all around even in animation)
