Here it is, my first real attempt at making a gun from MDF. I now present to you The Halo 4 Battle Rifle. Once I'd finished my Magnum handgun I knew I had to try something bigger. I figured, why not make the Halo 4 version of the Battle Rifle, my favorite gun in all of Halo. So after a day of planning and drawing designs, a week of cutting and carving, and then three days of priming and painting, this is the result.Except for the barrel which is PVC pipe, the entire weapon is MDF. Almost all the carving was done with a knife and the painting was done with spray and acrylic paints. The total length of the prop is 3 ft and it weighs about 10lbs.
Before anyone ask, yes the gun is blue. Why? well I was originally going to paint it using the in-game colors but I saw an awesome design by fellow deviant DESIGNOOB www.deviantart.com/art/Halo-Co…
and I liked it so much that I knew I just had to paint it like that. Full credit for the color scheme goes to him.

Sweet! :3 Halo was my first game on console and I liked the series ever since. You made a very cool prop and I like the paintjob too. Maybe you could make it more used but it's great anyway.

Since I am currently living in UAE (United Arab Emirates) I wouldn't be able to ship something like that to America or England because the shipping alone would be like $300. If I were to sell one though, I'd probably sell it for about $100 or so + shipping.

Thank you, though for my next project I promised to make my sister a particular pair of dual swords so guns will have to wait. MDF is short for medium density fiberboard which is basically sawdust that has been mixed with glue and then compacted into boards. It's not quite as strong as something like plywood but more than makes up for it by the fact that it has no grain or knots. This means I can carve on it in any direction using something as simple as a knife. That's what I do most of my carving with. Hope that helps
