Description
Today I have the fourth part of my upcoming Celestia sculpt. She is nowhere near done, but she's coming along nicely. Sorry for the delay, but work's been hectic and time for sculpting has been short.I have been asked repeatedly to make a tutorial and since she's going to be my most involved and complicated sculpture to date, I figured it would be the perfect time to just get everything out. These multi-part WIP submissions should include everything I do when sculpting. I do not know how many parts this will end up being, but I'll keep making them until she's done.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Part 5: [link]
Best wishes.

You say you use fimo for the 80/20 ratio, but does it matter what color? Like, do you use just white or transparent fimo?

The only Fimo I use or will ever use is "Fimo puppen doll clay." There is a picture of it in the Part 1 Tutorial. I never use colored clays since I always paint them later. The natural color of the clay I use is a slight pinkish color. Hope that helps.

obe question, how many times did you baked it?

After looking through your gallery, I see you're using Super Sculpey. Everything I've seen with Super Sculpey, you have to be a bit more careful with rebaking it and thin pieces have a tendency to burn. That's one of the reasons why I love Fimo so much. This clay never burns and as long as you let it cool between bakings, you can let it go for the full bake time and temp without worry.

Many many times. I don't keep track. lol.
I just let it cool completely between bakings and there is no limit to how many times I can bake it.
I constantly look it over for tiny flaws. Each time I find one, I have to add clay and I always bake it before going to bed for the night, so I can sand the area I added clay to the next day.

Maybe I missed it somewhere, and I apologize if you get this often, but, do you do commissions!? .. I'm totally awestruck by your sculpting talent!! I'm hoping beginning of next year I'll be able to commission WhiteDove as well. ^_^;; hehe. Thanks much!

Thank you that means so much to hear!
I am willing to do commissions, but the price varies depending on what you are wanting done. If you are interested, please note me with what you are looking for and I'll be able to shoot you a price. Thank you.

Unfortunately, it won't let me send a note to you. I'm not entirely sure why? ^_^; It just won't let me. I am interested in a Princess Celestia type pony, only with my own variations.
Not many, mainly colors the hair. Otherwise, that's about it.
If you can note me, that'd be awesome, otherwise, if you want me to e-mail you or something, just let me know as well.
I'm just not sure why it won't let me note you. -_-;;

That's okay.
I don't know if I'd be up to doing another Celestia type pony after this. She's taking a lot more work than I originally thought and I'd have to charge way too much to be willing to part with a figure of her complexity. I'd have to see a picture before I could consider it. If you have a picture you could reference, then I'll take a look, but if she's pretty similar to Celestia, then the answer is probably going to have to be a no. I'm sorry.

No worries! I unfortunately, don't have a picture, as she's an OC. ^_^;; But if I manage to draw one myself I will certainly message you. ^_^ I understand about the Celestia kind of complexity and the hesitance to do something of that nature. It sure looks time consuming and difficult to put together.
So no worries there. I'm very flexible as to how old she could be (instead of adult, filly or something). But as I said, if I can muster up a nice image, I'll be sure to send it your way to see if it's something you might be up to doing.
Thanks so much again for your response! ^_^!!

Thank you!
I'm glad you think she's coming along well. She's already changed a lot since that pic as I've been going over the whole thing top to bottom fixing small details everywhere.
Her hoof details took me longer than it should have. I spent about 12 hours on them alone making sure the proportions and details were correct. I think they turned out better for it.

She's looking rather brilliant so far. I'm loving that extra bit of 3D detail to her eye.
Good luck with her mane and tail too, I can only imagine how difficult that'll be.

Thank you! They'll be a challenge, but I've fortunately already figured out how I'm going to do it. It's going to be incredibly time consuming, but it'll make it all the sweeter once it's done.

I have to say your methods varies quite a bit from my own!
But I'm way too lazy to make a tutorial, so next time someone asks me for one, I think I'll point them in your direction

Thank you! That means a lot.
Just from looking at the occasional WIP from other sculptors, it seems we all have pretty different methods. The fact that we all go about it in different ways is fascinating and I love seeing other techniques.
