The final colours on Rex! I think that as a whole this works pretty well, and that the details are nicely done as well. Obviously on Rex himself there's not too much work with the majority of his armour being white and all, but I think what's there has turned out well. I included a number of dents, dings and scratches on the armour in various shades of light brown and beige, to try and make it look more lived in and that Rex has seen plenty of action, which I think works well. I used some shades of cool grey on the armour for the shadows, and I'm happy with those aspects, as I think it adds a sense of weight to things without being too overpowering and instead suggesting that the armour is grey in colour. The other colours on the armour are the blue markings, which I added pretty carefully, intentionally leaving some white aspects showing through to add to the scratches and damage on the armour. I started with a medium shade of grey for the pauldron and the kama, but I felt that this ended up being a bit too light, so I went with the next grey up on the scale, and I think this works. I did keep the same grey for the gloves though, but I feel that this helps to separate them from the other aspects done in grey, as well as the blasters. Another way I tried to keep the blasters separate from the gloves was the inclusion of an initial layer of light blue on them before adding the grey and the shadows, and though it's a subtle differentiation, I think it helps the picture.

I was initially going to use a very dark grey to colour the Galactic Republic symbol, but once I'd finished colouring Rex I thought that the lower spoke of it might look inappropriate given it's placement, so I tried something a bit different, and used lines of light blue to try and recreate the effect of the holograms seen in the films. I think that it's a decent enough effect in that it keeps things clear from the background, and that the blue also manages to tie the symbol a bit closer to Rex himself.

For the real far aspects of the background, I decided to only use warm tones as a way to make Rex stand out even more, and to keep him the centrepiece of the picture. A lot of the colours are fairly simple, though I think that there's enough detail there to make it all seem relatively believable. I felt that the use of yellows and oranges would also sell the feeling that it was an alien planet, and not just a field here on Earth somewhere. I think that the sky is probably the most successful part of this, as both the shade and shape of the clouds help to make things seem even more otherworldly. I also think that the smoke from the fires works pretty well, which I made using two shades of warm grey, again to keep it separate from the cool greys I used on Rex.

So yeah, as a whole I think that a lot of this piece works well, and though I made some changes from what I saw in my head, the picture as a whole is stronger for it.
