aww, thats so kind
theres something a bit special about those i think. they seem less like insects than other insects. more like buttons..

LOL xD
well first, I like the design and the idea.. just fly..
ya know, I JUST bought a tablet, I'll make some drawings and say I rendered them like you haha nah jk, I know I gotta keep learning, not make stories up

btw, maybe you could add some little shadowing to the toon shade, perhaps it would look cool, a shadow of the fly kinda way below in the ground, and selfshadows.. I just pictured ur fly in my DS kinda Link's fairy who's name escapes me, in Phantom Hourglass..

peace!

hehe thanks. i havent spent a huge amount of time playing with sketch n toon but its really easy to pick up and learn once youve done a few things with it. this pic only took a couple of hours all in all (which isnt a bad timeframe for someone who cant draw) but the module really shines in animation.

i could certainly add shadows and youre right, i think thatd look good. ill probably submit another version over the next few days.

yay! ^_^
oh and that module precisely is the one I needed to learn first [I was offered a job] but had to decline because first comes school.. so now I'm learning at my own pace, and haven't gotten to Toonshading..

well enough of that, I'll sure check you fly with shadows hehe, but still, I like this one a lot.

ok well ive tried to get shadows on there and its actually not so easy. i can sorta get them but it doesnt look that good so i think ill have to look into alternative methods..

really? I thought it would be easier :/
and the alternative methods being..??
[all I can think of is Photoshop hehe, want me to give it a shot?]

yea, painting it in manually in photoshop. youre welcome to give it a go if you want to, im no good at that stuff.

the only other way to do it would be to render each piece to a separate file with an alpha channel and use the drop shadow, which would look good but would lead to way massive files which i dont have the ram for (print res is 12000x9000). i cant do it in the renderer cos it doesnt work properly without messin up the 'aper' texturing.

i wish somebody would offer me a job heh.

the best thing about sketch n toon is that it renders so fast you can get to know all the options and what effect they have almost in realtime, unlike the other modules. the main thing worth remembering is to use resolution independent mode tho, otherwise everything changes as soon as you render at a different size than the viewport. anyway, have fun with it once you start

Ever heard of pen and paper? I hear they were the height of technology in their day, and used for exactly this sort of thing. No need for them nowadays of course, what with computers and such.
