Nah, that'd just be silly. Teacups are taller and have a larger handle and are made of thinner porcelain.. and they have some awful floral design around the edge too.. always..

Lets just say that cups are interchangeable then
I think a rounded shape is always preferable to a more squared off one tho, for aesthetic purposes.

The Cubists would not like your concept of aesthetics.

woo! thanx! hmmm I think it would look terrific with a pink background. Pink as... mmm here [link] but not screaming-pink, kinda dark yet rich pink [not desaturated] that goes with the coffee mood
:coffee:
hehe if it's not too much to ask

thanks very much
i tend to come up with lots of half finished ideas so its always great to get that spark that leads to a finished piece of work.

Hmm, I think the reflection on the liquid surface is too strong, and there's no miniscus (that lip thing around the edge, surface tension and all that).
I'm a harsh critic, sorry.

not so harsh, i thought those same things myself. i fiddled with the reflection for a long time but i think if i edit this pic id increase the contrast rather than fading it out, cos reducting the reflectivity really makes things look like they arent liquids. there most definitely is a miniscus (thanks, was tryin to remember the word for it) tho, i took extra special care to put one in. thanks to the light angles you cant see it tho, its not picking up any specular light. i couldnt even manage to get it to appear by adding more lights because of the side of the cup being in the way. i may well edit this and try to fix the liquid, but not today

i actually composited the background on after the render thanks to the gi doing strange things with the shadow, so im glad thats not noticeable.
