Description
The Declaration-Class Starship was developed in 2260 as a long range scientific explorer, diplomatic assignments, and extended border patrol. Starfleet ship yards only managed to produce about 12 of these unusual style of vessels and favored more of the Miranda and Constitution-Class. Like her counterparts the Constitution-Class, the Declaration-Class was refitted in the 2270's with more updated hull configuration and warp nacelles. In 2269, Commander Dianna Garret was promoted to Captain of the U.S.S Challenger (NCC-2032) and was the first female captain in over a century to gain command of a Federation Starship.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
